Any way to get Windows 7 to show my overclocked freq in System Properties? Bios?

Hey, random quick question. Is there any way to get Windows 7 to show my overclocked voltage in System Properties? Is there a setting in Bios I have to turn on/off? It shows I'm running 2.67Ghz @ 2.67Ghz always, no matter what I overclock to. Of course, cpu-z shows the right one.

    Thanks.

Hi there you mean the freq of the overclock processor like this?

well first you should have shown us your spec, cos there's nothing i do with the bios or windows setting to make it show the freq.

wow, okay. Yeah, mine doesn't show that. Haven't done a permanent overclock yet, so no oc specs, but I noticed that when I did a quick test OC to for gimmicks, Windows 7 didn't shows 4.00 GHz like yours did.

Do you have SpeedStep on or TurboMode? I think those settings fluctuate the frequency based on what's needed, right? so maybe that would be the reason why it doesn't show up right?

Also, is your multiplier 20 or 21?

    thx

You just need to update your performance index I think.

mine doesn't show OC frequency too, I have been told that I have to re-install windows with the OC'ed settings to show my new frequency
I have all power saving enabled, turbo enabled 21x.

Try to disable speedstep and let me know what you get.

I OC'd to 3.4 Ghz on my first WEI test, and now it always says 3.4 no matter what my OC is

    lol

has anyone ever heard of Max CPU Id? On another forum, its said that if that's enabled, then it'll show the correct frequency. But I dont see anywhere in my bios where there's the option. Maybe there's another name?

Re-run your Windows performance index indicator.

Ya, sometimes the WEI will do it, other times it must be installed at x.xx overclock to show that way

CrewXp, did you try to disable speedstep/C1E and all power saving features?

On older AMD CPU its worked (cannot remember about newer ones).

Its to do with Windows can only read the DEFAULT multiplier on Intel's.

If you have a e8600 with a multi of 10 it will always be read as 10, so if you OC the FSB to 500mhz it will think your at 5GHZ, even if you have the multi at 6x so 3GHZ.

Hmmm, I was OC'ing my buddies i5 last Friday and his System info dynamically showed whatever frequency the CPU was running in real-time in Win7. It did both at stock with C1 and EIST enabled and disabled with a small OC [we were running stock cooling and didn't want to risk anything]. Anyone else expereince this?

I have seen that due to power saving but is it dropping the Multi or FSB ?

My system info will change, but it will always be off by the multiplier. It always thinks it's x20, but I have it set for x21 in bios. If I change the FSB, the GHz info will change with it, but (again) only by x20 (not by x21). I never worried about it, but my old e8500 did the same thing (it showed that I was o/c more than I really was).

Speed Step does not affect this.
