939 DFI Lanparty Full Banks Problems

    Hello,

Need a bit of help on one of my friend's systems. He's got the following parts:

    X2 3800+
    DFI LANPARTY UT nf4 Ultra-D
    2 X 1024mb OCZ4002048PFDC-K
    7800GT
    FSP 700 watt psu

The system runs fine in its current condition. He just recently bought some of the following ram:

    2 X 1024mb OCZ40020487ELDCPE-K

He can run either the first 2gb's or the 2nd set of 2gb's, but not together for 4gb's. He's tried clearing the CMOS and all that usually happens is that the computer won't boot or it will boot with all 4 dimms in place, but still only show 2gb's.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Jason

Try setting it to 2t instead of 1t CPC off instead of enabled in the mem section of the bios(most NF4 boards wouldn't run 1t with all slots filled, some wouldn't even with 2gb of ram as 1gbx2), also try upping the voltage on them justa touch (should b 2.65 volts stock try it at 2.7 or 2.75) make these changes then power off and insert the ram, idk u might have to mix and match them to get them to work with all 4 slots filled, u might also want to try to set the timings to something rather loose at first and tighten from there once u get it 2 boot/working in windows, but try something like 3-3-3-10, set tRFC to 24 and tRC to 10-12, also for this board with that many dimm's u will have to set your Dram Drive Strength (DDS) to 8 the highest setting DDDS u might b able to get away with setting 1 but idk what ic's they use just try 1-3 (depending on his bios he can even have a 4th option)

These boards can b a PITA till u really learn how 2 tweak them, so many setting (at least back then), but what i have listed should help you out alot, give them a try and get back 2 me

PS. And here i thought i was the only person in the WORLD still running this board...lol

Also what Bios is he using? some of the newer one modded by tony aka Bigtoe boot alot better then other bios (particularly after a flash) but i have noticed alot better booting all around with them (1-2 sec post vs listening to my fans spining up for 5-10 sec with other bios's b4 posting), i like the 704-BT, and im pretty sure u can find them in my bios guide in my sig (if they aren't there look up "dfi NF4 ultra-d bios 704-bt"in google there should b a techpower-up.com link with dfi nf4 ultra/sli-dr bios)

imo only try that as a last resort u will lose enough performance going to 2t vs 1t, so try to keep the ram at speed, only try that if what i have listed doesn't work, as your going to have to run 2t, pretty much no matter
