Had to dry the card because of a leak. Everything is up and running again. 4 hours straight this morning running my Asus 5970 with EK waterblock. Not a single problems or freezing. I've played Resident Evil 5 2 hours this morning at 2560X1600 8X, no problems. I've ''played'' Furmark also for 1 hour without any problems. No problems in 2D or 3D.
Idle temp 23- 24, never reach more then 33-36 full load. 9.12 over 9.11, then 9.12 Hotfix over 9.11.
People with problems. Probably some config/user problems. I don't have a clue why other people are having so many problems with the card.

Thanks for the help (or lack thereof) in resolving my P3700 issue, FUGGER...
It did not solve, just made it last a couple of hours longer since the card now is dead and stops in BIOS where it goes in to GFX BIOS after the splashscreen so i have to use one of my trusted 280 as GFX a bit longer instead of PhysX onlycard, and it was not because of the Waterblock the card take the dive, that one was not to blame for anything. It was due to bad card from the start that was able to find its way though the nonexistant Q.C as it seams when it was shipped from factory from the beginning.
I really hope next card is better or i will pull the plugg on this and wait for better green thing that i do know work in every weather.
Sorry, i am not that friendly againts the red atm due to bad/nonexitent Q.C. Luckily the card died instead of keep being unreliable so that there is no question what the problem is when i return it for a 100% working card.

Sigh... I'm now officially in the ''Club''.
Computer was on for 48 hours, 30 hours of gaming, a NOT A SINGLE freeze, bug or BSOD. Was working flawlessly for 48 hours. I close the computer for 5 hours to get some rest. Start it this morning, now I have ''Display driver stopped working and has successfully recovered'' every 30 seconds!!!!!! Can't even type this message completely without having this message every 30 seconds!
Everything freeze for 5 seconds, then I have a brown screen, then corruption all over the screen (green and pink dots), then everything is back and working again, with the error message... Then CCC re-start and change my all my settings!
I can't use the computer anymore. Will have to transfer to another computer... This is crazy. And I was all proud of myself. What has triggered this? 48 hours on without a glitch. Now can't use the computer... The only thing I did was closing my case this morning (since everything was working fine lol!) and plugging the side fan, so my temp are now lower. GPU is idling at 20 celsius instead of 23-24. For the first 48 hours my case was opened all the time without any side fans.
WTF! I'm a stock speed! Didn't even installed AfterBurner! Sigh... Hope they stop eating turkey soon and come back to work.

I had the some problem with my 5970 too levesque. I tried everything to fix the problem (reinstall windows, reinstall drivers) but nothing worked I kept getting the same popup message. I ended up getting fed up with the card and just ended up rmaing it and have to play the waiting game now.
I just changed all ULPS value in my registry to ''0'' like Safan80 said, and I didn't got the ''message'' in the last 10 minutes. LOL! At least I can type a message now without freezing every 30 seconds! Will wait and see. Probably a driver problem, since disabling ULPS at least make my computer ''stable'' again.
4 hours now (2 hours playing Resident Evil 5) without the error message, freeze or any other problems since disabling ULPS...
If I close my computer and let it cool for 15 minutes or more, and then start it back, the same problem is happening, but only once at start-up, then when the computer warms-up, I'm ok for hours. I only have the message 1 time only at each reboot after letting the computer cool down. If I close the computer for 5 minutes and boot, then no error message. But if the computer had the time to cool down completely, then 1 have only 1 error message (''Display driver stopped working but has successfully recovered'') 10 seconds after getting into Windows. Then I'm ok for hours when ''warm''.
It's totally repreductible. I did it 3 times already with 15 minutes cool down, and it's doing it each time if computer is ''cold'', but not when it's warm. I can reboot and boot all I want if I let the computer cool down for 5 minutes or less only.
Strange...

Try something please!
Before you boot up your computer disconnect the fans from your radiator that is cooling your 5970 (someone thinks the card is cold buged) that way when you boot up hopefully you'l have the card in the mid 30C's at least with the temp rising because the fans won't be going on the rad. See if it gets into windows okay and if there is no artifacting/driver crashes happening and check the temps. If it is okay and the temps are over mid 30C's without problems then try connecting the fans and see what happens when the temps drop...if the artifacting/crashing comes back is pressent with lower temps.....and if so what temps does it start to happen at???
I left my computer off all night, and didn't got the ''Display driver stopped working but has successfully recovered'' message at all at boot-up this morning. Since yesterday morning, it didn't happen at all. So I was able to game all day, around 12 hours, without a single glitch, bug or BSOD. My 5970 is rock-solid in 3D. I've played Resident Evil 5, Dragon Age, Crysis and Batman AA. Not a single problem at all.
What I do to avoid the error message at start-up is to start Furmark for 1 minute the second I have control of my desktop after start-up. So my 5970 goes from 21 celsius idle to 23 celsius, and I'm fine after that. I did this 5 times yesterday to be sure. Closing comp for 15 minutes to let it cool, boot-up, start Furmark the second I can for 45-60 seconds to ''warm'' my card... and no more message error.
Disabling ULPS in the registry also helped a lot. So until next driver iteration, I'm fine. For now I think I will let my computer run 24/24, so I won't have any problems until they fix that driver problem.
Ambient temp is 15-16 celsius here in the morning (-30-40 celsius here outside...), and at the end of the day, it's around 21 celsius. A 5970 + i7 920 can now officially heat a room by themselves in a -30 celsius climate! lol!

I always de-activate Hibernate when installing Windows, since it takes around 12-15 Gb of space on my 160 Gb X25-M SSD... Those SSDs are craving for more Gb...
I will only let it run 24/24 for now.

I had the same 2d ''Display driver stopped working but has successfully recovered'' / artifact problem too.
You should try this one: create a new profile with higher 2d clocks.
Not a single freeze since 2 weeks
Here is a thread and a lil guide too:
http://forums.amd.com/game/messagevi...hreadid=122942
Just try it...there are few ppl without any problem after they changed it.
Ok, so , most 5970 issues fixed by turning my cpu clock down , that fixed the black screen in MW2.
Anyone know of a bios that opens for a higher OC on GPU than 1000 MHz and 1290 on mem?
