you are bang on with your question, for 24/7 use, performance memory is an absolute waste of funds...period. anyone arguing that point is either selling, advertising, or promoting memory with their best interests in mind, not a consumers.

DDR3-1600 at 8-8-8 (if not even less) is more than enough for any system (X58/P55) and anything over that is a huuuuuuge waste of money in a performance/$ ratio. for daily use, spend you money on SSDs, for gaming use on GPU, and for benching on everything

I bet these will go for at least €175 a stick. Thanks but no thanks. Looking forward to results though. The AMD 1600 6-6-6 kit will have my attention also.

I think the bigger heatsink makes it a GTX stick?!

Concerning G.Skill, just read what I posted above your quote!
it says GT on the stick itself... :P
    not GTX

so your saying 2250 8-8-8 performs better than 2200 7-10-10?

Holy Steven! I guess that makes sense though, Corsair gets better yields by selling individually rather than finding matches that work well together.

Micron chips do they use? I would rather see some better speed on GPU products, that is cool dont get me wrong.
clock for clock no processor IMO keeps up with memory anyway.

The specific ics that they are using is unknown to me due to the heatspreaders. Maybe one of the beardguys can answer that question...
