W7 is giving BSOD at logo-load with the same setting as my previously 10-Run LinX stable 4.51GHZ (215x21) 1.34v . So I had to check if there was something wrong with my babe.

Just a little 2-Run LinX with BIOS F3h to check it out, because LinX is too brutal and I don't like to get too rough when it is running on the edge. It looks to be doing just fine: http://img.techpowerup.org/100205/Ca...4-20100205.jpg

Wondering what's bugging the w7 at logo-load with BIOS F3.

What is best Ripjaws or Trident ?

    Sorry by my bad English
Trident use the outer RAM slots and then probably only be able to use a 25mm fan. Pretty sure that'll work with the Mega.

Yeah that was fast, but something was really fishy with F3. This was very needed and necessary, indeed.

I've already flashed to F4, and my issue with w7-load at high-OC is solved now . I have to test more, but this looks much better already.

My X58A has been nothing but flaky. It keeps hanging up on the AHCI portion of the BIOS after working for the first few days (this despite several CMOS resets, battery pulls and even flashing BIOS (F3, F3K, now F4). Any ideas about this?

The other vexing thing about this particular mobo is that it will not let me install any Catalyst drivers on my EAH 5870 vidcard other than the ones on the installation disk (cleaning drivers using DH Drivercleaner Pro). I have an RMA request in to Gigabyte, this board is definitely going back. Very disappointed.

That's very strange, because I'm using the same video card and no issues with driver updates. Good luck with the RMA.

Yeah I love the vidcard, it's a beast, just want to use it properly.
Something is just not quite right here. Anyone have experience with Gigabyte RMA, could not even get on the USA site for that this morning.

Very weird. Maybe you just got a bad one. I've never had a problem with AHCI on mine.

Mine started working fine using an 80 GB X25M and a Vertex 60GB. All of a sudden just started to hang in the AHCI Bios and wouldn't move. Tried moving ports, to no avail. I could occasionally get it to show up by a CMOS reset, complete power off, etc. then it would flake again.

I don't use ATI, but those new ATI drivers are known to be buggy. They tend to use several months to mature .
If the first Catalyst drivers works on your MB, then it is probably a buggy driver, and not related to the MB. Maybe you need to find a "working" new driver?.

My Vertex has been working just fine when i tried it with AHCI, RAID and IDE-mode.

EDIT: Still testing, but all my previews profiles seams to be working just fine with BIOS F4

Wow, such good temps for 4.6g air.

Any improvements noticed yet with F4?

Btw, NH-D14 with Indigo Xtreme is on the way to me 4.5g here I come

F4 BIOS allowed me to tighten my memory timings a bit. I'm gonna try for a higher clock later tonight when I'm back home.

Gigabyte customer service is excellent over here in the UK and RMA is quite fast so I figure it might be the same for you guys across the pond.

Yep good temps for that OC but this wasn't optimized at all. I could probably use less Vcore with better temp, but that was just a quick one with too much Vcore (to eliminate the Core problems) for checking the rest of MB-related stuff with this new BIOS. I Didn't have much time to look at the details, but F4 seams to be working at least as good as the best BIOS I have seen so far.

NH-D14 is doing great job here too , I'm using a 120x120x38mm Scythe Ultra Kaze (2000 RPM) as the first push-fan now and it is ~2'C better at load (compared to Scythe Slip Stream (1600 RPM) 120x120x25mm I used before). I believe a fan with high static pressure would do a good job as the first push-fan on NH-D14.
This is not the quietest fan i know about, but connecting it to the CPU-fan-header and selecting "voltage"-option in BIOS (for regulating the fan speed), make it spin ~1300RMP at idle, which is pretty quiet .

I'm Using the original NH-p14 fan at the middle, and the combination has been within my working cool&Quiet for 4.51GHZ (215x21) 1.34v so far.

I haven't been able to even access the Gigabyte End User RMA web site here in the states for a few days at http://rma.gigabyte-usa.com/DirectRMA/EndUser_Main.asp - and I sent a message via webmail to http://ggts.gigabyte.com.tw/Default.aspx which has not been read yet. If anyone knows a better way to get in touch with Gigabyte USA please let me know.

It's there, just WPrime32 not showing it it but Windows and all other apps detect it, look at CPU-Z.

Can't you do the retailer exchange?

Nope bought mobo from Newegg on 12/14 so outside their 30 day window for exchange/refund - I was waiting on a few parts like my SSD's, etc to build first. I am going to ask them Monday about it in any case. Hopefully by then I will hear back from Gigabyte or their eRMA page will work again.

Your All CPU meter gadget is showing 4GB too, and that's always pretty accurate. CPU-Z is showing wrong.
Look at task manager, it say total 4GB, right?.

EDIT: take this one here too.

In orientation where fans blowing towards the back of the case, The cooler itself blocks the RAM slot#1, and the fan blocks RAM slot#2&3 ... . I haven't tried the other orientation, but i think you will get in trouble with using the silent pipe. You see, this thingy is HUGE.

You're right about the RAM, I loosened the timings and it's back to showing 6 GB. That's a bit weird eh?

I figured that cooler would be trouble with the Dominator GT RAM modules. I'll keep the Megahalems or just get a Thermalright VX if my minds swings that way.
