    Radeon 5970 in a CM 690? Possible?

Hi guys, has anyone fitted a Radeon 5970 into a coolermaster 690 case?

I've done some searching around the web but cant find a definitive answer, it ranges from "no" to "it'll be tight" to "it should just fit".

I've measured inside my case and I think it will be very tight, so tight I cant really make my mind up.

Has anyone actually installed one in this case?

    Thanks for your help guys.

    Pete.

Yes it ca fit. I own a CM690 and look at the space between my GTX285 and the case :

The HD5970 is only 3-4cm longer so its not a problem. Tight fit, but fit ! im pretty sure.

if thats the way GTX285 is in the 690.. the 5970 will never fit because the gtx285 is "only" 27.5cm long while the 5970 is 34cm

    Lol...

This is just the problem I'm having, nobody seems to know for sure.

And in every review I've read, the length of the card seems to vary...or rather peoples measurements of the card vary, it ranges from 31.7 to 34cm

Doesn't look like it will fit, or if it will it'll be VERY close. Remember you need room for the PCI-E plugs on the side of the card too. I had to take out the middle HDD rack for it to fit in my Antec 902.

Well as nobody seemed to know, I can now exclusively reveal that you CAN fit a Radeon 5970 into a CoolerMaster 690

Its tight but it fits with a cm or two to spare, and no moddification needed in my case

If in doubt dremel? I mean you need the inside of your case to look pretty or work?

Another 690 pic maybe help you see the space. This is a smaller card my BFG 8800GTS but shows the space not at an angle

Well that was hard, I took a lot of pics but was so difficult to get decent ones. I've attached the best two, in the close up it actually looks tighter than is is (although is it tight). To give you an idea of the gap, you can just slide your index finger between the card and the case.

And yes, I know the case is messy but its got a lot in it. I modded it, so the rad fits in the top, and the pump in the front...its all in case.

Man, youre lucky.... If the first PCI-E slot was the 2nd slot (top to bottom) you may not have managed to fit it.

It would possibly be obstructed by the bottom plate of the 5.25" bay area. My Gigabyte board has the arrangement i just described, so i wouldn't be happy now if i'd bought a 5970....

Can you show some pics from the top radiator placement ?

Yeah, I see what your saying man. I did do some measuring first, and I knew I was in with a chance...I hadn't thought about different PCI-E slot placements, so I guess you guys are going to have to check that first. AT least we know it is possible now.

I'll attach a pic of the rad, I am lucky cause everything just fits to the mm in this case but its all good.
