this is the much more expensive 1.65v gskill PIS http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=146

if anyones bored and wants to do some lax timing runs at the same speeds as the PIS it would be cool to see how if these newer ic's can do the same thing?
In wonderng why they would even bother with them after these.

maxed out @1.55V you mean you can't go further even though you give it more volt ?

This RAM doesn't seem to scale very well with voltage, at all. It's quite wacky to play with really. I have not been able to get it to do more than 2100 @ CL9 with any voltage, any settings.

I think I could squeeze more out of them if I understood DDR3 subtimings as well as I understood DDR subtimings back in the 939/TCCD days.

nyeah - Yes. The mem becomes unstable above 1.55v. Like say I have 2000Mhz stable at 1.55v, if I increase to 1.60v I lose stability without increasing speed. Some kits scale up to 1.65v though, just try it.

Too much voltage can cause problems. Memory at a certain frequency will only require a certain voltage. Anything more or less may cause instability.

^^ Why can't I find this kind of memory in a 2GB kit or single stick? It seems most manufacturers are not considering those of us on a lower budget.

What is the max voltage for daily use on this chips? Would be 1.6-1.65V too much for daly use?

with 790FX haven't got no great results with these sticks yet

Gskill PI, Corsair dominator seems to be doing much better.

So what's the consensus on these, are they decent OC'rs for 2x 2GB PC3-12800 parts?
Also if you under-clock them below stock, can you get tighter timings, & can they run on even less voltage?

I mostly want to run at stock or under-clock w/tighter timings....
But on the rare occasion that I game, a decent OC (not hard-core) would be nice too!

Not sure I'd have quite as much luck as others with a GA-H57M-USB3 though
I believe the memory controller on the Clarkdale's (I'm getting Core i3-530) reverts back to the Core micro-architecture.
And of course a lot depends on the board and it's BIOS....

Any thoughts/advice on this or other g.skill RAM greatly appreciated!

Impressive scalability, thanks for sharing, I've been happy with my 4x 2GB.
I run mine mostly at stock or even UC (for HTPC/PVR), but I've ramped them up occasionally, and they've coped well.
Best memory I've bought so far..........

There's 1-2 good threads on what they used to be binned with on this forum (under same sub-forum i think)
But I'm not sure if that's still the case for them now...
If you find any recent info & you've got a few minutes, please share, thanks!

Usually PSC, you might be lucky and get a kit with Elpida BBSE.
I kind of hate my mobo for having a minimum VDIMM of 1.6V, but I'm happy with my ECO results

This is the best MaxxMem I got with my ECO's:

Sooner or later I'm going to increase my VDIMM to 1.65V and see if my timings can get further annoep, are those results OS-stable?

    Also, has anyone tested the new 2x4GB G.Skill ECO's yet? (rated 1600 8-8-8 1.35V)

No but I'd be interested if 4gb dimms are much better value now.
    Haven't looked since about Feb.

My kit has some sort of cold boot issue. Once I am in windows it works fine. Has crashed my bios twice now.
