    New BloodRage owner...

    Hi,

Sorry to be a bother. I just bought a BR GTI. I wanted a nice quality board with good OC potential for my watercooled i7 920.

I didn't realize Foxconn or QF is going out of business? Is that correct?
This means there is no more support for this board? I had hoped to use it with an i9 later. I read it might be possible with G29 bios, but the answer isn't so clear cut.

If I want support for i9, would I be better off with another board? I was originally looking at this and an Asus board.

If someone could point me to an already created thread or something, I'd appreciate it. Thanks again.

G30 works with i9, donīt worry..

If you choosed between ASUS and this.. you made right choice.

QF is still in business.. none knows what future brings..

officially qf is still in business
from what i know there is only a single person from the original qf team left though, so dont expect much from future products and support
there is a bios that supposedly works with i9, but nobody confirmed that and how well it works with an i9.

for now X58 QF boards are still a very good option imo, they lack some chipset timings and memory timings of other high end boards, but they come are very good prices and offer about the same 24/7 oc results as even the most expensive ultra highend x58 boards out there.
it's hard to tell how well i9 will work on these boards... but i don't think there's a lot the bios engineers need to do to make it work so it shouldn't be a problem.

even if BR works great with i9, there might be a notably better board out once i9 launches and you might want to upgrade again...
so id say stick to BR for now, im sure you wont be disappointed

He mentioned that somewhere here on XS.. you can probably ask him. Plus Foxconn tech confirmed that G29 works with i9. Which actually doesnīt mean its true, but I believe in BenchZowner.

    Hi,

Didn't want to make a new thread.

Yesterday picked up my sweet BR mobo. It looks just great. Saaya, thx 2 U, package is smth out of line. Asus and Giga can go F themselves. And BR costed me less than P6T))

I wonder, what BIOS version I should go with? Maybe on weekend will be able to get other stuff. )

What about Scythe Mugen 2 on Br? Smb has any experince with this one? Backplate fits properly? Does it block ram slots?

Depends what you have, but I guess that you have D0 rev of i7.. so you can try P07/08/09. I had quite nice results with P07, but P09 is most widely used now. P06 is I think pre-D0.. which means Iīm not sure it can work perfectly with it, its pretty good version for C0 revisions. Anyway, try what you want.. just stay away from G29 and G30, they donīt work on anything else than i9.

Myrkin - be careful with the mugen2. Wouldnt recommend removing the socket back as per the instructions. Instead put the backplate over the socket back and the 4 spacers between backplate and mobo - theyre exactly the height of the socket back plate . All fits together sweet then with no chance of it shorting. No idea if it would short, but i've found this to be a far quicker and safer method of fitting this heatsink.

Had to do the same on an EX58 UD3R.
