    Cool W3570 @4997Mhz + Asus P6T6 WS Revolution

New cpu arrived - Xeon W3570 3847A696 with unlocked cpu multiplier

First 5hrs with cpu. Quickie tests done and I must say these W3570 3847A696 are overclocking beasts! To be able to get screenshots and validation @4911-4966Mhz HT enabled with 1.45v bios (1.440v idle) vcore is crazy!

Temp and vcore at 4ghz (1.184v) wise, it's pretty similar to my W3520 3845A935. It's definitely cooler than my hotter W3540 3845B010 but not as cool as my i7 920 3845B260 (coolest cpu I've got).

    System:

    Room ambient = 29.0C to 30.8C

Unlocked cpu multiplier is alot of fun

    Max Validation @4966Mhz at 1.440v

    Screenshot @4911Mhz at 1.440v

    Prime95 @4000hz at 1.184v

    Prime95 @4227hz at 1.24v

Next day benching, trying to see how I could go for Super Pi 1M so bumped vcore from 1.45v (1.44v) to 1.4875V (1.472V) and 1.50v (1.488v). With HT still enabled managed to pull of Super Pi 1M @4911Mhz at 1.472v and cpuz validation was @5011Mhz at 1.488v but it was corrupt so next saved validation was @4997Mhz at 1.488v

    Room ambients = ~31.4C

    System:

Realtemp 3.42 reported around 43-47C idle temps didn't bother looking at load

    Max Validation @4997Mhz at 1.488v

    Max Super Pi 1M @4911Mhz at 1.472v

Loving this W3570 3847A696 cpu even more, first time I've benched 32M Pi above 4.8Ghz with HT enabled - 4803Mhz with only 1.464v vcore ! Ignore the slow 32M Pi time as was using loose mem timings and low mem frequency just to see if cpu is capable of HT enabled 4.8ghz 32M Pi. Really should be down in 7min 20s range for 4.8ghz

Funny look at difference between 4th and 1st core temps 45C idle vs 38C idle.

Wow Those results are awesome eva! ...and I thought I was rockin' with my W3520 at 4.2GHz and 1.28v. I'm sold!

eva is there any chance you tested to see how far you could go at 1.3v core? I'm using the MO-RA 2 Pro and a HK 3.0 waterblock and the combo works pretty well together. I'm looking for some 24/7 clocks using a "moderate" v core?

Good job with collecting all good batches, out there.

I have always been wondering where those week 46 and 47 batches ended up, until now.

The batch# (3847..) ended up in this new high-end CPU. Some other guy got a new w3565, with batch#: 3846 too.

It seams Intel has stored away week 46 and 47 to be used on hight end chips later. Finally some revaluations on Intel's batch-business is emerging .

Yeah being stuck below 21/23 for 920/w3540 is a pain.. unlocked multi will be very useful for my memory test/reviews

haha yeah this maybe the cpu that forces me to use such cooling for the first time. Would need to be schooled in the art of DI/LN2 though LOL :o

You might be on to something my W3540 3845B010 and I've seen a few W3540 3846s too but also seen W3540 with 3851 batches. But W3570 have all been 3845/46/47/48s.

I think I see 5.5-5.6ghz benchable W3570 class cpu ? Suxs that local temps here are near heatwave quality these past few days though 33-35C with some cities in 38-40C temps

Simply amazing CPU, I didn't see those max clocks coming based on the vcore it needs for 4GHz prime stable. Very nice, I guess this one was second hand also?

Interesting observations/theory about batch vs CPU binning. There really was something special about week 45 - 49 and intel must have known that too.

Yeah surprised as well 4ghz 1.184v was no where a indicator of what this cpu has for head room with HT enabled!

Bumped vcore up a tad for Super Pi 32M then pushed vcore up more for 3dmark05 @4803Mhz HT enabled at 1.528v. 3dmark06 cpu test would crash to desktop at 4803Mhz HT 1.528v so probably try more vcore later.

Nice cpu, I have a W3520 myself, a 3848a352 and it runs 24/7 prime stable and everything 4.5GHz HT on at 'only' 1.30v where 1.20v is enough for 4.2GHz
    Too bad it's not unlocked...

Any plans on getting a Gulftown in a while, eva?
I'm still not sure, sounds good though 6 cores 12 threads

thanks Garret your W3520 sounds nice too for 4.5ghz HT 1.3V!

No Gulftown right now cost too much US$1,200 and they apparently die pretty easy with too many volts heh.

    Messing with mem controller now.

    6-9-6-22 1T Timings

Tighten the timings on 6GB Gskill Trident 16000C9 Elpida BBSE memory even more and tried to push the W3570 to it's limits for water cooling. Did the following

    Best 32M Pi time @4821Mhz 7m 27.016s beat my 4830Mhz time at 7m 27.157s

    Max Validation @2050Mhz 6-9-6-22 1T at 1.78v

Thanks eva, yeah I'm pretty happy with it, cost me 200 euros so it wasn't that expensive anyway, very very happy with it
Can't beat the feeling of gaming 24/7 with that cpu
What would be your cpu's maximum 24/7 setting? 4.6GHz?

Haven't really tested for 24/7 - this cpu is for benching!!! 4.2ghz 1.24v seems nice and easy

    Max Xeon W3570 BCLK

While max bclk isn't as important on unlocked cpu multiplier Xeon W3570, still need to find out what it can do in terms of max bclk and as expected you run into a board limit way before you run into cpu limit for bclk. Managed around 226-228bclk max so far at relatively low QPI/DRAM (CPU VTT).

    System:

    3D Bench at 226bclk (225.8)

    Max Super Pi 32M @228bclk (227.7)
