Even with two quads, this chip still runs hot. Need to get some extreme cooling or wait for it to get colder in my basement.
That hot with 2 quads huh, toasty chip. Did the second rad help much?

Mines at the limits of a single quad & EK HF at 4.5GHz on a cold night, temps approach 90*C at ambients around 20*C.

That was high, with 2x 360 rads and fairly quiet fans I can do 4620 HT with temps between in mid 70's.

Probably bad IHS contact, a lot of i7 chips have that.

    Probably an uneven IHS.

I lapped my 3845A935 and it helped a bit. Dont have the numbers anymore, but I think it was 5-6 degrees with a TRUE.

I know there are a few templates lying around but I felt kind of lazy so I took some pictures instead.

    Hope this helps.

Have you tried to lower CPU pll voltage SimpleTECH? It should allow you to also lower vcore and temps a bit. I use 1.5v on mine.

tried today.... even putting my rig directly below the AC unit wasn't enough to manage ambient temps lower than 26ºc

summer seems to be hitting hard this time... will try again another time, cause temps where getting higher thant 86ºC....

I tried but 1.800v was the lowest.

I'll try tweaking a bit later.

I left my window open during the night and saw a 4°C drop in temperatures.

    Bring on the colder weather!

Looks like what they say about F-batches needing more volts is true. I couldn't do it with HT enabled in my limited testing, would probably take 1.45v+ which isn't really safe on air methinks.

Here is another one, but this time with HT enabled.

    donmarkoni | i7 980X [6C 12T] @ 4522.6MHz | 1.4375 | Rampage III Extreme | Water (ambient 11°C) | 3013A472

I forgot to do a CPU-Z validation, but I hope it doesn't matter.

EDIT: For those wondering about temps, it is on water, but with open windows and ambient dropped by 15 degrees compared to previous run.
