    21" square monitor source?

I'm looking for a source to buy a 21" square monitor. I have been happy with my Dell 1908FP monitors - I'd like something similar in 21". Is that possible?

Good source online? I don't care about stands, will be on a multi screen stand. Does Dell make a 21" square?

    Thx

i dont think that there are any 4:5 or 3:4 monitors anymore your best bet is a 24" 1920x1200 it will have about the same height as a 21: square

You could always get a 16:10 monitor and flip it 90° if you want more vertical real estate.

It needs to be square to fit 21" in the monitor stands I have. 19" squares are still available so it's no big deal. For what I do widescreen is not an option and I'm not a huge fan of a 90* rotated widescreen.

Ergotron stands - won't fit 3x widescreen monitors. (widescreens suck anyway)

in my office setup I have one 30" across the bottom and then 3x 19" across the top and it's not as good. Those 30" monitors are awesome but widescreen just does not cut it for what I do.

I was running one Matrox G450 Quad card and using the mobo for the 5th monitor but there is a big difference between DVI and VGA so I turned off the video on the mobo and added a second G450.

Currently running two Matrox G450 quad cards, all DVI outputs, on a Dell Optiplex 755. Work setup is similar except Dual Matrox G450 quads running 6-19" square monitors powered by a Dual Xeon Dell Precision workstation.

The Matrox cards are great. Getting cheap (used) and they are just enough for a finance application.

you could take it to a shop and have an extention welded in to allow larger monitors

edit - I dont see why widescreen would hurt?

Dell used to sell the 2001fp 20" LCD that uses an IPS Panel (might be some out there that are non-IPS, I'd check) and it's 1600x1200 square. Very good monitor, but not on the same level of color as the modern IPS panels nowadays.

Looks like you can buy it refurbished some places.

It all depends on the resolution. Two things really - first is the right to left neck movement is killer, second is if you run wide screen resolution (I'm in a finance application) the charts and graphs are distorted which is bad. If I turn them the long way (as many futures guys do) the Ergo isn't tall enough to take the monitors that way either. Its either about distortion due to resolution or width, height, etc.

I'm now a big enough fish to be a Dell "Premier" customer and they open up a whole world of things (new/refurb) that normal retail people can't get. I also found a ViewSonic 21" square through a corporate/enterprise reseller.
