What was the highest clocking 939 board???

Was wondering which board was best for overclocking on air on the old skt 939's? Could any of them do over 360htt?

Yeah they could. The last board I had, ASROCK Dual SATA II, a budget board, capped out at 400 because that was as high as the bios would let me set it. Those boards were strange though, I doubt many others could go that high. Max vcore available was 1.5, but it got me as high at 1.5 as my other boards got me at 1.565. Only chip I remember running in to many motherboard bottlenecks was the opteron 165. Most chips topped out at 2.5 - 2.8ghz so for most other chips its not an issue. Even with the 165 you arent likely to need a board that can go over 310.

Does it matter if its a SLI version or not?
This review http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/DFI/LPNF4UD/16.html is saying the SLI one is probably faster.

Don't think it was the highest in HT overclocking but my old trusty MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum was a very competent overclocking board overall.

What about the S939 board that ASRock recently released? Even though it was not intented for overclocking, it does use a modern chipset (785G, SB710). Does anyone know how it performs?

NV bought the company that made the SB and then killed the drivers but in IDE mode it works and MS made drivers for it (im not sure on 64bit vista though), and its not like the NV raid controller on the ultra-d sli didnt drop arrays and corrupt data

Got to give credit where its due, but my first 64Bit PC was an MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum.
Broke the 3Ghz barrier on a couple of chips with that, and in fact I still have the board. Some thing are just worth holding on to!

I had one of those, it was awesome with memory! I had 3 boards after that one, none could use my PC4400 the same way Was bad about overvolting though. I was asking for 1.565 vcore and thought that was what I was getting, until I pulled out the multimeter and it read ~1.675! No wonder it was one of the better clocking boards lol. Mine died with a slip of the multimeter probe one day

Also worth noting, it was AGP. If the guy is thinking about picking stuff up for a modern build, probably wont want agp.

Yes, isn't there an ASROCK s939 board out now? I kinda wish I didn't give my Opty 185 to my friend for his GF last Christmas. They still haven't used it and I sure could use another folding rig.

FYI, the DFI nf4 SLI-DR Expert I had with that chip was badass. The limiting factor was the CPU. I must admit, I miss working on it.
