Thanks for all the time you put in, nice review.

    I'm pretty comfortable saying that C3 is a 4Ghz 24/7 chip.

What is the batch, stepping (ex: CACYC), and last 4 digits of your chip's serial number?

I was really hoping for more: you're better at this overclocking thing than I am, and you're using an AMD supplied review sample as opposed to a chip I bought retail, but your results are almost the same as what I'm getting from a C2.

(Pics or it didn't happen, right?)

4h prime stable is different than 30 minutes I know, but with these C3's having an NDA and all I really expected to be floored. At least I won't have to spend any money on one just yet, that's a plus.

Great test, congratulations to you and your friends! All that overclockers want to see! Your water cooling results are most important to me and I like them very much! My 940 is soon out of the game, that's for sure!

    Yup

    you talking

4.1ghz prime on air.........cant do this on mine with water
4.2+ghz prime on water (cant do that either but mine will bench at 4.2ghz 32bit and 4.1ghz 64bit)
4.35ghz bench stable water (cant do that at all only screen shots)

    4.49 superpi 1m I can do 4.41ghz

I see only 150mhz-200mhz difference than what Im doingIts good but not $200 good for where Im at.

Unless something drastic happens to my cpu or I come into some extra money I may pass and put the money towards a 5870x2.

great review chew and excellent results! thanks for covering a lot of cooling options. c3 really showed a well balanced improvement over the c2's and really promising for amd in the future. it really gets me excited to get a c3 myself.

btw, what did you mean about extreme watercooling? did you had any special cooling like an ac on a rad?

In that first IMC shot with 6-7-6-18 1T @1880Mhz and vCore 1.36V, was the NB also at stock volts?

Nice work on this review Chew, I can see you put in a lot of hard work here and it shows with the quality of your review

Looks like we have a very nice chip here, can't wait to bench one of these

Very good review, you guys must have a lot of time invested in this. Thanks for sharing the results.
Based on these C3 tests (air, water), I’d say I may gain 100MHz+/- over my 965-C2 but as always you never know until you test.

Nice work Chew and crew... really nice effort and very thorough. Stuff like that right there inspires confidence in the results! So, everyone else is saying it - would you feel comfortable saying that on water that most C3s are going to hit the big 4?

    Yah water should be cake.....

When I say extreme water cooling I compare it to todays bling water setups..... that look cool but don't actually run cool.

Not .01 degree is sacrificed for looks, loop is closed cpu only with a t-line fill port......no res etc etc pump runs off dedicated PSU with 12v rail sens modded to 14.4........basically its old school.

TBH I used the worst chip I have here for the review just to keep things in perspective so as to avoid certain discrepancies that may have happened when i reviewed 955.

1/2 prime well you already said it......I run over 3 hours for a reason, usually if it gets past 3 hours you are good to go.......why becasue after 3 hours it repeats the same loop of tests

That's good to know you're working with a bad (comparatively) one that clocks nicely. I have some C2's that need 1.53V to run 3.5....

Good 965's should be GOOD then, and that one is probably representative of the X2's and X3's that will hit retail. Awesome.

Wow love the high clocks with lower voltage on Air. And your memory timings + NB clocks are insane.

A big amount of time went into this review! Really nice!

From your testing at stock volts C3 clocks memory about 70MHz higher than C2, which is rather nice.

What's the highest memory clock you were able to achieve with raised volts and low NB?

Giga hit's a wall at 1880, I am almost 100% positive now it's a board limit, booting at 1880 is not that hard, anything higher is impossible.

I will be testing some other boards on phase in the near future to verify the IMC limit.

thanks, i thought there was some special cooling you did when you said extreme so that would mean a typical water setup then, that's really good to know.

i prefer simplicity and functionality with better looks (i don't consider mine with much bling though) for my rig since i use it 24/7 but it also cools my chips too the way i wanted it to
