    Catalyst 8.9 vs 9.9 on HD 4870 X2

Great, article, and awful Google translation: http://translate.google.com/translat...istory_state0=

but graphs speak universal language of fps
Adobe is working on Flash Player support for 64-bit platforms as part of our ongoing commitment to the cross-platform compatibility of Flash Player. We expect to provide native support for 64-bit platforms in an upcoming release of Flash Player following the release of Flash Player 10.1.

    Good find Nedjo
So contrary to popular misconception driver release DO help improve graphics card performance more than 1 or 2 FPS. (Or is this becase we are talking about the X2 range of graphics cards where one has to pray to the driver God's for drivers which support CrossFire?)

So with Cat 8.9, adding 4xAA in Far Cry 2 doubles your framerate?

No, there is no doubling of frame rates in that game. Between resolutions frame rates improved between 7.XX-14.XX FPS when AA is used in FC2. However, I do recall some believing that drivers could never improve frame rates that much.

i would have liked to see single card results too. probably would have told a better story of how little (but the fact it does) improve.

    Exactly!

But for the users of CF/SLI configs this article holds a lot of water!

Single card improves less, but still a lot of bugs are sorted with never releases (some new bugs are introduced as well ).

Anyway I'm usually upgrading driver every month anyway.

12 months to get a card working properly, that's what the article proves.
    Are we there yet?

To prove this the article had to test every driver between 8.9 and 9.9 to watch if game fix hadn't occured before.
Not surprising a meanigless sentence comes from you...

    Sentences don't overcome facts.

Edit: I don't see it where it states that they have tested the card with every driver since 8.9 to 9.9, would you mind pointing this out for me? Or will you be the one remaining with the meaningless sentence after all...?

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. Look at this:

Maybe I'm reading something wrong, but that sure looks odd to me...

wow really? that would be great news!
i think its more likely that they had something broken for quite a while and didnt even realize it, or they didnt know how to fix it... and now they finally did it

That's the point, they have not tested the card with every driver since 8.9 to 9.9! So you don't know if those increases where not present since catalyst 9.0 or 9.1 or 9.2, etc...
So you can't say that the article proves that they need 12 months to make the card works properly.

The article proves only one thing : between catalyst 8.9 and catalyst 9.9, card performance greatly improves. It proves nothing more, nothing less.

They should have tested 9.8 at least. If there was a big difference between 9.8 and 9.9 you know pretty much where the benefit came from.

it was a very short review, with alot of info missing, if they tested other cards, and other drivers, we might have something worth looking at

I tried one out recently and thats still not the case. My 280 slaps that thing around in way too many games.
