    Bootmgr Missing Br Gti

yeah, getting this error no matter what. Tried different harddrives and what not, doing a table top build so no extranious hardware. Came loaded with P07 bios... the screen vaguely corrupts when i get the message and some characters will disappear. Figure it's gotta be a BIOS thing.. so update the bios.. but i have the latest bios.

You got a USB pen drive in? It might be trying to boot off that so change the boot order?

Fresh OS install? If not, was it installed in RAID/AHCI and now booting in IDE mode?

P09 is the latest BIOS, flash that one. You can always switch the jumper and boot P07 after if you wanted.

    Put a couple things together.

Changed setting to raid, even though it's just a single drive, blamo problem gone. This does however explain why i was getting the error when first using a BIOS and booting for the first time and having it say "ACHI BIOS NOT INSTALLED" and then at the bottom of the screen "RECOVERING OC DEFAULTS" (bottom one is not an exact quote) then gotta hit F1 to continue (though it doesn't SAY that anywhere, i just guessed it was probably an F key i had to hit as it is on my other award bios boards).

So, what to make of the no ACHI bios installed, i dunno, but it doesn't matter to me at the moment... getting a raid card might change my opinion, and that and a gpu are my next purchases...

Can you boot with ahci enable?

I've instaled W7 in Intel x25 ssd with ahci enable, but couldn't boot.
Changing to ide mode no problems.
Then a enable raid in bios (enables ahci auto) could boot but got a bsod, maibe i need to install again with raid enable, even if i don't have raid...

i originally had mine set for IDE.. and no boot. I was doing the vista start up repair and it was saying it should boot fine, and of course it wasn't. Don't even need to reinstall probably, might just need to install raid drivers and then turn it to raid mode and you'll probably be good to go. Seems raid mode would just put stuff on to the ICH10R which is where it should be being handled anyway.

I lean toward the latter, i had one stick that was dead in the kit, wouldn't shock me if another had errors.. new kit installed now.. haven't tried to see if i get the error.

Ive just put an SSD in as my main drive yesterday, I didnt have any probs booting this drive in AHCI set in the bios and installing windows 7, however when I came to plug in my normal hard drive to store all my back-up's on, it didnt wanna know it, I went through 3 HD's till I found one that it liked and would boot with all 3 drives connected the the AHCI controller (my SSD, my HDD and my DVD Drive).

One thing i noticed yesterday when looking into the bioses for these boards, is there has never been an update for the AHCI rom, although they did update the RAID, Jmicron and Realtek roms in p07 bios, there has never been one for the AHCI, I dont quite understand why as there are newer roms available and the one on these boards is big time out of date, the date on my AHCI screen is something like 10.12.2008

are you sure there are newer versions of it?
if yes, might wanna pm carl, just swapping out a rom is a piece of cake for a bios engineer...

My version is 1.07 the date against it is 12.05.2008 which makes it a year and a half old, the newer version i have seen in other bioes is 1.20.

Like i said in my previous post, it just seems strange to me that they would update the RAID, JMicron, and Realtek ROM's in P07 but not the AHCI.

only problem is if you update your bios with this addition in it and your using SSD you will loose all your data and have to reformat.

Alot of Gigabyte board users have modded there own bioses to add this new AHCI ROM.

    no problem mate.

Although im about to raise a problem for you now regarding this update, when I look into the bios file using cbrom, for the bloodrage I can only see 3 slots for updating PCI ROM's (A, B, C), in P07 all 3 slots were filled with the RAID ROM, Realtek, and JMicron, but when I look into the Gigabyte bios for instance, they have 4 slots (A, B, C, D) and updated everything the same as P07 but also the AHCI Rom too in the 4th slot.

Would this pose a problem ?

well if you know that gigabyte hired lots and lots of bios engineers from award themselves (which as a side effect went belly up recently btw)
this makes a lot of sense gigabyte can basically maintain their own bios now, and hack and modify and patch stuff that other board makers can not...
much better than the asus and ami relationship, where ami will do anything for asus, but they stretch out an open hand and smile everytime asus wants something heheh

so my guess is that the original award kernel only allowed for 3 rom slots and gigabyte hacked it to allow 4...
