    Unhappy MSI P55-GD65 Won't Boot

I setup my new i5 750, MSI P55-GD65, OCZ Gold 1600, and 4890 today. Went to power it up and smelled plastic. Shutdown immediately, removed all components except cpu and 1 stick of ram. Started back up and all I got was the phase lights blinked on, cpu fan started, then all shut off again. This kept looping until I killed power again. I tried the ram stick in all four slots, same thing.

    RMA time?

Yup, tried reseating cpu, memory, and graphics card. No luck.

The smell seemed to be coming from the memory slots. Also, when I took out the dimms, I could smell the same scent off the memory.

Yes, the cpu fan was plugged in and spinning for the half second it was on.

Interesting article; however, I don't think it applies because my system wasn't even capable of booting to overclock. Also, I checked the 750 for contact marks and the pins on the motherboard for bent ones and both seemed fine. Either way, I decided to RMA and try again with new components.

Thanks for all your help XS.
