ps. someone can tell me if i can find the block in the UK?
I'm in the same situation. I just bought that same mb and already own a gtz, but was planning on buying the XT. I have yet to put the rig together, but it seems that there would be interference with the back plate.

I'm about get that board and was planning on using the 775 mounting holes. I'm curious if you will see temp differences between using socket 775 holes and the new 1156 holes.

if you notice all our announcements, and our web site, we say that the back-plate for socket 1156 is expected to arrive mid-october. I hope by end of next week. we'll ship it for free upon request if you just bought an XT.

Gabe, the distance between the holes for 1156 is in between those of 1366 and 775. so why dont you make a single hold down plate with slots?

    compatibility with Gigabyte Update

    In reference to http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=131

I am glad to confirm that the revision to provide full compatibility with the Gigabyte boards listed in reference (above link) has now been validated. It consists in a 2.5mm wide x 1.3mm deep step running along the edge of the base plate.

Here is what it looks like:

Nice shine to that block Gabe! Awesom-O! Cannot wait to play around with one of these soon. Not going to use the bolts with springs you have here. Will be using my good ol hard mount. Well it's because I will be lazy as I don't want to take the board out.

Can't wait for these to be easily available in Aus. Love that you went through the trouble of making them work with GB motherboards when it was of no fault of your own.

Unfortunately their only other option would be to slap a warning label on it and hope nobody with a Gigabyte motherboard misses the warning and subsequently gets angry at swiftech for the damage cranking the block down would cause.

@ Gabe, there is nothing wrong with the first revision of the block if I don't have a Gigabyte board right? Have one incoming next week which is rev.1 and don't have a Gigabyte board.

    Nice!

Always loved Swiftech blocks, awaiting UK stock for my new build

Still, not a great rush as I'm also awaiting i9 and GT300 as 5870 seems a negligible upgrade from a pair of 4870x2s....

In the meantime I'm cutting my fingers getting ATX PSU pins out for cable braiding...

You probobly cant answer this that well (Which I would understand) but I have a Q6600 (LGA775) which is lapped and a EK Supreme LT to cool it, would you "think" I would get better temps with this even though its lapped?

Also will it work with I9 when they arrive? I suppose it would but I havent read if anything is changing or if the cpu is so much different that it will require a new design to be cooled optimally.

we are finishing revising all the blocks for Europe before we ship them, so we don't have to worry about the gigabyte compatibility over there. shipping end of the week to our master distributor.

the retention mechanism has been adjusted to also work with lapped processors.
