How many of ATi's 5870's stream processors would it take to perfectly emulate it's 32 ROPs?
How many for it's 80 TMUs?
How many for it's 128 Z/stencil units?
Could replacing the fixed function parts with more stream processors emulate DX10 rasterization perfectly?
In other words, was the 5870 not all stream processors because that would have been too inefficient, or is it that double precision (FP64) stream processors can't perfectly emulate DX10-spec'd fixed function parts?
I've always wanted to know that, so any replies will be appreciated.
