    i7 rig for fun...?

    Hey guys,

    Ive been enjoying the system in my sig quite a lot. A friend of me, who knows I know a damn lot about PC's, asked me to put up a config for him. Well, all fine, but while Ive been looking for his config (which is already been ordered etc) I of course saw some stuff as well.

    And I really do enjoy OC'ing and so Ive a little 'problem' now. Im looking to order another 1366 system, although not for general use but for lolz and OC'ing, mainly RAM for the time being, later on maybe more CPU's. Although money doesnt grow on my back, and I do have a very functional system already, I at least think an eVGA Classified is a board to own...IMO then, it's a piece of art anyhow (I still regret for not getting the first cream white Sappire Pure 939 board).

    So Ive been thinking to order the following;

    Intel Xeon E5502, it's relative cheap, nothing special, but it should be enough to ramp up Blck's to play around with RAM kits, shouldnt it?
    eVGA Classified as described above.
    Antec Skeleton, easy case it seems and as Im planning to switch out a lot of stuff, probably quite some CMOS resets, I guess it's a good case.
    For the rest a spare HDD, cheap GPU, spare DVD drive and some 500W-ish PSU. Only problem is finding space for this in my room but shouldnt be a disaster.

    How do you guys think about something like this? Would it be plain stupid or pretty awesome? Im still unsure whether to pull the trigger, especially as Im waiting for Sapphire's Vapor X HD 5870 2GB editions (guess they'll be there at some time), prolly a 2nd 24" screen, Windows 7 (although that shouldnt stop the project) and maybe some SSD love.

    Sounds good; looks like you got it all figured out. Though when it comes to ram OCs, s1156 is the king. I'd also go for a single rail psu (I'm sure you already know that,

    Well, I cant be really that bothered about 1156, although it's cheaper so it's 'something' to re-consider. But I still think I should have an eVGA Classified

    Regarding the single rail PSU, didnt think of that at all although I can imagine why (as I only got to power the motherboard/CPU mainly right?)
