    Blackops and RAID help?

Hey guys, I just setup a new rig based on the Blackops board (specs in sig)

In the BIOS I go to "Intergrated Peripherals>OnChip IDE Device" and set "Sata Mode" to "RAID" and make sure "OnBoard IDE/SATA Chip" setting is set to "IDE Mode" as stated in the manual. Press F10 to save and exit and the computer restarts. But during the post screen I dont get the "press <ctrl>+<I>" request that the manual says I should.
I have temporarily installed Vista on one of the drives until I can get an idea of what to do. I have a feeling that the Intel RAID ROM isn't installed or something?

I am using the latest P07 BIOS and want to create a RAID0 array with the 2 VelociRaptors that I have.

Any ideas of what to do next would be great. Thanks.

Edit= Right after some more research, it looks like I need to enable the addon rom display at post, but I can't find the option for it in the BIOS. Anyone know where to find that?

you changed the jmicron to raid, u need the intel one, its the top one on the page it has the option for IDE, AHCI + turbo memory (i think its + turo its + something), and raid

also use the raid bios to set your partitions its faster than doing it in windows

and are u really using the stock block on the blackops, u need to change it out imediatly before u do permant damage to the other parts of your loop u can easily change it out with an mcw30

Yes I'm using the stock block, and I have changed what you said but I still cannot get the rom to ask me to press CTRL+I

I have done it on plenty of other boards, I heard that some of the blackops BIOSs have had this error? I'm not sure though...
Would I have to re-flash my bios?

I believe you need to make sure the sata plugs are in the correct ports too, I hope this helps.

Maybe the intel raid rom isnt on there?

I'm going to flash using the Windows tool that came on the disc, see how that helps
Untill I have RAID setup, I'm not going to OC anyway

Thats what I mean. I know some boards are picky with there sata plugs and which ones you use. Like #1 and #2 ports together, each port has a number and sometimes they are grouped to a channel.

why do you care what ports your going to use?
but yeah, there seem to be some weird bugs regarding to this, if you use some ports it sometimes messes things up for some reason... boot orders get whacky and all...

I did re-flash the BIOS.. didnt help.. still on P07
Is there a Beta BIOS you would recomend for this kinda setup? Consider the fact I have a 4870x2 installed and I heard X48 boards struggled with xfire setps and early BIOS files?

    Chaos,

I've only taken the briefest look at this thread, but it smells similar to this one : ""Blackops with P05 bios. 2 X 4870X2's in Crossfire X. 2 X 300 GB Velociraptors in Raid0... My problem looks to be something to do with the video. I need to know how to resolve this, is it a Foxconn or Sapphire issue?""

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ghlight=xyster

Take a look, maybe there's something there to despair/hope about? Though that guy wasn't too happy with the outcome, and he had set up a swank water-cooled Blackops box (pictures somewhere in this forum).

    XmX

PS: a very short story coming up... possibly very unrelated to this thread, but who knows :: I had a highpoint pci raid card (IDE) on Blackops for a short time.. and it would never boot up with its bios (raid startup) unless it were slotted in the final pci slot.. (!)

hmmm what monitor do you use? crt or older lcd?
could it be you dont see the ctrlI thing cause the display is too slow to show it?
just try and hit crtl I a lot during boot up and see if it hooks in?

hmm.. I get a AHCI BIOS not installed message.. compared to the screenies in that thread, there, most likely lies my issue.. so how would I go about getting this put right?
I d ohave a very similar Rig to that one though.. but just 1 4870x2, not 2 (had 2 in an Asus Rampage Extreme.. noticed better frame rates with 1 4870x2 in the BO )

The OP of that thread also says that with the p07 BIOS (which I am using) he has the issue I am having on p07

I'm using a samsung 26" LCD... comes on about half a sec after the post beep (which incidentally takes a while)
i get the BO boot logo screen, then a summary page.. (pressing tab at post removes the logo quick enough to show the ram/cpu/sata init tests) but I dont ever get a flash of the intel screen (as mentioned above, I get a AHCI BIOS not installed!! message)

    Thanks for your help guys

I don't have any additional information to offer besides what is on that thread. It is a reasonably dynamic thread with one of the foxconn guys trying to help the OP.

Nevertheless, if I recall correctly, the OP gave up and ditched Blackops in the end.

    PS. I'm also using a 26" Samsung (T260HD). =)
