    And I thought my GTX280 was fast

    Apparently not. A friend of mine had me pick up 2 Radeon 5870s. In exchange for me getting them, I was allowed to do some benching with them in my rig. OH MY GOD these things are FAST

    Installing 3D06 now. Anyone else want me to run something for them? I have these until Thursday.

    They will own 06.. you'd need a 5ghz+ CPU tho to properly test them. Otherwise they will just be CPU limited.

    Dunno, ATI usually sucks in Vantage.. no CPU bottleneck there tho. Try it

    Only managed 25K with 3D06, it really does need a decent CPU. I did 20k with the 280. Let's hope Vantage is better.

    My FPS in COD4 has increased over 3 times though. Instead of a minimum of 60fps that is now 220. Even this seems CPU limited. I had a CPU usage of less than 5% with the 280, but it's now at 25%. Beasts they are indeed...


    Anyone with a spare CPU pot they let me borrow?

    I have three cpu pots, but will be needing them for my own HD5870 benching, sorry
    They indeed are fast, also the card is surprisingly quiet for a high end card.

    Can you post some base runs at like 3.2ghz and then oc the mother outa the 5870 and run it again at 3.2ghz. All on 3D06? I'd like to see some baselines first before heading into cpu oc land.

    I set up M@H, but it isn't downloading GPU WUs, even though I explicitly selected GPU crunching only in my account preferences.

    Any ideas? I am still running a single 8600GT in my system with Win7 drivers, since I like running my 4 LCDs. Could it be interfering?

    I'll see what I can do. For now, I have a little trouble getting ATI overdrive enabled. I'll at least give you a stock run at 3.2Ghz.

    I had a 3850 for some time. It wasn't half bad until the 4xxx series came

    No, that is "evolution" - absolutely normal.
    Just replace the damn card with the new 5870X2. You will sleep much happier

    gonna wait for 6-core AMD desktop parts before i un-CPU limit the bad boy i suspect, though!
