I'm gonna be gone for a week or two One of the mosfets on my video card decided it had enough and died taking out my motherboard with it. The vid card is deader than a log and I'm sending it in for repair but for the motherboard I'm 70% sure it's just a bios chip problem and I've ordered one(should be here any day now). If the mobo is really dead then I'm looking at 2-4+ weeks It's never a good thing when you see smoke rising out of the side vent panels on your case!

There's nothing as devastating as being burned.

    Burns souls.

You must seek your fix elsewhere until the fire has settled, and spring is a time of joy.

    We'll miss your xtreme output

After a disaster involving my mother and a vacumcleaner, I'm finally back with a new setup.

She decided at a visit - while I was away - to clean my place. Dust had settled through time and my old XP2600 sytem (10 years almost 24/7) had its share of the dust inside. As the system was open, you could enjoy it. Now when I came back, my mother was almost crying and said "I think I have made a disaster. She had. There on the floor laying on its side, my system was delivering the message to my screen "Please check your signal cable." After 1 day of all "medical attempts to revive the victim, I declared it braindead, and gone forever.

The next day I build a new machine after a 10 year pause without any opgrades, so anything, even 3 generations back would deliver me an impact, I could feel. Finally after the build were finish, I can confirm that for nearly nothing I made a huge impact, and can declare myself, happy. : )

Just a note to any one thinking he's gone. He was, but he's back.

    Cheers

    PS

    Morale :

Don't leave your mother alone with a vacumcleaner, in your apartment.

    Hey you ; )

Well, for you guys it's a joke, but for 200$

    E 5300
asrock with an intel chipset (micro board)
    ddr2
Graphic i had from my sons old system radeon 1900gt
    The rest i had too....

Yeah i know it's a joke, but going from an amd 2600 with a 9600pro, made it feel like heaven

Just a thing that made it clear was when i installed a program and played a video, while i heard some music at the same time, and the cpu never went over 40 %. Another thing was archiving which has cut 50 % in cpu usage. So not only does it handle processes like a dream, but it uses so much less power doing it.

    I'm freaking happy. : )

    Edit
    One more thing.

The time archiving has gone from 2:30-5 min. to top about 1 min, using 50 % less cpu. That's freaking huge... : )

It must have been.. where mine was ..

I'm still amazed by my new micro setup, and my stomach is tickling of joy...I actually forgot to eat nearly a day tunning and setting it up....my brain was too busy with all sorts of logistics.

It's not in a case yet, just operating from the floor. It's a mess...but a chaos with the finest functional order...
