    WCG on PowerPC G5?

I have an old G5 kicking around, and recently have been bitten by the folding bug, I wanted to see about folding on it.

What kind of results could it achieve?

    The G5 is a pretty standard 2x 2.5ghz PowerPC (90nm CPU's).

I can't see the graphic (I'm at work) but I *think* this shows you if any of the WCG subprojects support PPC

It does work, but it doesn't produce much points.

Well, I guess I'll give it a whirl any ways just for the heck of it.

From what I have heard, the G4's 500mhz CPU's will do 40 avg points per day, so not taking into account the big architectural enhancements, maybe 200 ppd avg per CPU.

Alright, got it all up and running, and boy am I surprised on so many levels.

    Good news
    -CPU Benchmarks achieve:
1705 (10.3) MIPS Floating Point (Whetstone) per CPU
4610 (10.3) MIPS Integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU

EDIT: Under 10.5.6 the numbers are now up to:
    1976 MIPS Whetstone
    6061 MIPS Dhrystone

I think they are pretty good for dual 2.5ghz CPU's, what do you folks think?

    Bad news
-CPU's run extremely hot. The radiator is very warm to the touch. Here are the temps:
    Idle:
    CPU 1: ~55C
    CPU 2: ~50C
    On-motherboard memory controller: ~67C

    CPU 1:~80C
    CPU 2:~68-70C
    On-motherboard memory controller: ~70C

Try to clean up the dusts on the heatsinks/radiators?

Sad thing is they are brand spanking new, along with the entire case!

    Here is the watercooling system:

Basically what looks like a 140mm radiator, with a MCP350 or 355 pump.

Apple has had huge problems with the seals on the pump causing leakages. That is how I got this system all new, the warranty ran out years ago, but after calling Apple, they were nice enough to waive the repair fee's (probably for safety and liability reasons).
