just a small suggestion to help you with getting information on this forum....

Instead of double, triple, quadruple posting, if your post is the last one and you want to say something else hit the " EDIT " button and continue typing on your old post.

Most of your posts are only one liners but when you get three or four together you fill up half a page - some people cant be bothered to scroll down through pages and pages.

You might get more replies if people don't have to go so far to read what you have written.

Just a thought....might help....I wish you luck in your endeavours.

For refrigeration you need < 500 Microns of pressure. even lower is better. There are 24,500 microns in 1 inch HG vacuum. 24hg vacuum is no way even close to 500 microns .Below 29.88hg vacuum is the territory you need to be i.

Your more than ~ 6X microns rating to high @ 24hg vacuum.. those are approx numbers get a pressure calculator/converter for exact numbers.

You need a electronic micron meter to read pressures that low. a manifold is just not accurate enough.
    The Laws of Thermodynamics say:

Zeroth Law: "You must play the game."
    First Law: "You can't win."
Second Law: "You can't break even."
Third Law: "You can't quit the game."

Do you wanna Play Thermodynamics ???????? I forgot "you must"

I can't believe that he's doing at this age...

It seemed like a troll thread at first but I am amazed that he's actually doing it.

I suggest that after he masters this incredibly complex build, he lurks around the forums to learn more about forum etiquette.
here's a useful guide for that.
    http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/posting

But with this amount of intelligence at this age, this should be a breeze to him. I want to see what he is able to build in the future though. Looking a small crocs running all over his build , I get this fuzzy feeling.
I wonder how he finances it too. must have nice parents...

I have just one question, are you the one making all those solder joints or is someone doing that for you? I'm hoping for the latter, for your own sake.

Think about what you just said; then remember you are talking about a 13yo boy. Where I'm from you get in a lot of crap just for leaving them alone in the house at that age.

People that don't think brazing is hazardous usually end up learning one way or another. For example, learning that a burn is like an open cut; it can get infected. That's something even adults don't consider. But it happens. Ever see skin turn yellow? And we aren't talking about jaundice.

    Jeeze cooling storm,
I have 2 questions for you.

    1. Who is paying for all this? I am 14 my self and finished my first SS a couple of months ago. I find it very difficult to gather the money for all this stuff. Did your father already have the vacuum pump and torch?

    2. What refrigerant did you land on?

Drive on little buddy and be safe

You know this kid wasn't made to wear a bicycle helmet or needed a trophy for finishing last in the soccer league
I would have replied sooner but the compression explosion device in my motion traction system needed to be replenished with distillation fractionation of fossilisation extraction....

Well, unfortunately sometimes getting hurt is part of the learning process. I am sure next time you will think twice before crossing in front of your microwave gun. I am very impressed that someone of your age is working with some of the tools that I didn't use until my advance senior physics lab in college. May you heal quickly!!
