Intel had been fighting tooth and nail to keep the evidence in the EU antitrust hearing concealed, and hidden from public consumption. After they lost that fight, and the evidence is out there for all to see, I assumed that the fight would then fall to their second line of defense, and do everything in their power to keep the story from spreading online, but I had no idea that the very consumers that they have damaged in the process would be so eager to bend over and continue to turn a blind eye to what can no longer be considered heresay to the public. Intel certainly does not want this to become part of the daily dialogue that occurs in tech forums around the net, and for obvious reasons.

If websites so easily capitulate to Intel's strong arm tactics that apparantely haven't changed one bit, and moderators succumb to Intel's fanboy's, viral marketer's, and surrogates alike, then how can the online community have an honest conversation about what is now unquestionabaly, illegal and unscrupulous business practices, that have done nothing but line the pockets of Intel, Dell and a few others, and attempt to grind competition to a hault, all while killing innovation in the process.
And who could have been the biggest loser in all of this, if it weren't for AMD fighting tooth and nail with what can now be considered the biggest roadblock in the industry?

    YOU, THE CONSUMER.

News doesn't get much more Xtreme than this, and Intel would love to see this swept under the table and out of the public conscience and dialogue. Viral marketing is a very dangerous thing, but we'll have to see how willing the online community is to granting them their wish. Maybe there is enough honest people left out there to say enough is enough.

you are right! this has been out for a couple of days, and it has not gotten reported by any of the major tech websites...even digg has it buried??? and XS (for some reason close the topic???) why i ask? this is important development and it show how much consumers were harmed. i like intel products (prefer amd but w/e), but they need to play fair.....they need to play fair when it counted, and they did not!

this is pretty bad, and probably should be saved for future reference to be brought up in future debates; it's a valid of point not to be ignored.

let's try not to get this thread closed.
@God43 I'm not sure of the thread your refering to but it was probably closed due to flame wars or the like. probably not closes because of intel bias, though there could have some bias involved(it's only human nature).

This makes me want to go amd when I upgrade next (8 core) , even if performance is less.
Its the only way to get the innovation ball rolling again, like when I went Socket A and we were blessed with K8 afterward, then core2 after that.
Now its kinda in a stand still for innovation.

It sucks, but Intel gets fined and history is forgotten. Unfortunately while AMD might have had competitive products four years ago, Intel has the legitimately superior products now. So this really doesn't help them in the present, or in the foreseeable future.

EU doesn't deserve a single DIME except for the costs associated with doing the investigation.

EU is extorting money for its own socialism.. American wealth being taken by EU is all it is,

Money should go from Intel to AMD directly.

Well, if AMD was to get the damages then yes it would help them. But then again losing all those sales four years ago really hurts your R&D budget if you can't bring in the money. AMD is getting back on board now though and has made some strong showings. Intel still has them beat, and will for a long time yet but the gap is starting to close.

intel is not the best in everything at every price point, as of now amd is the best choice for an HTPC and they still have some of the best server/desktop products for the price

All amd needs is another gaming win.
With the lack large performance jumps in the near future from intel , amd could take a gaming win again, with more money imho.

This 6 core instead of 8 core and delayed i5, show intel isn't wanting to push the performance envelope until its required.

AMD wouldn't have done any more money since they sold everytihng their fabs could spit out, unlike Intel. AMD lost nothing in sales back then, at least nothing directly. OTOH Intel broke the laws, had to pay the fine. To who? The crime was done against AMD, but AMD lost nothing directly, would they have deserved the money? Well, I guess it would have been anything but EU who deserved it but w/e.

    Actually... I think you've got a point.

By awarding the damages to no other by themselves, wouldn't the EU commission be profiting from crime?

man i wish intel would pay me to go on forums to argue for them
i would just make horrible points and use a second account to make the paid one look stupid
    oh man the possibilities

on the amd forums there was a guy getting paid by nvidia, we eventually found
4x 7800gtx before street date i think was the moment it was proven

anyone whining though because big company A agrees to big company B's exclusivity agreement... dumb. ZOMG ALSO APPLE ONLY USES NVIDIA CARDS IN HIGH END AMAZING COMPUTERS WE WILL BRING THEIR TYRRANY TO AN END!!!!!!

i should make a computer company that only allows cyrix cpus and S3 video cards, after bowing to their power, im sure the world would be in uproar about that

apple uses ati cards in the high end (or recommends that u pick one). but the main point im seeing is intel wants people to think that its an exclusivity agreement when infarct they were selling chips for near nothing to destroy the only other company in the market. what this comes down to is illegal bribes to try to kill the competion

i thought they just used nvidia
and im still not convinced after going to their site

but what i did notice is the long list of $200+ software you can get preinstalled. what do i need final cut for, i thought a mac could do EEEEEVERYTHING out of the box?

    anyway
what i am saying is yes it sucks but it is an opportunity and strategy that you get to use when you are the largest business.

its like saying i cannot compete with walmart because the operating costs of a corner store selling plastic forks is outrageous.

    it's just what happens
