    Best ram for AMD platform

So i've gotten quite a few PM's as to whats the best ram for AMD platforms.....

Chopped the model out because it doesn't matter and it's no longer made but based on SPD I'm sure you can figure out what IC's they are.

OC tends to vary based on Mobo used. This is worst case scenario as they fare better on the other boards I've tested..........

Stock cooler on cpu.....Ram air cooled. Stock voltages for everything else.

Vdimm set 1.70 Measured Real 1.68v Rated 1.65v

It's hyper, GTR is terrible at 1.65v and all real GTR/GTS kits were rated at 1.85v-1.9v

    Good news and Bad news.

    Good news 1st

    It's MHN-E Hypers.

Bad News ( for your wallet )

    It's MHN-E Hypers

I think you would be hard pressed to push BBSE that far

I have 4 sticks of BBSE to bin in the very near future.

Still on the lookput for an affordable tight latency 1700+ 4 gig solution, will keep you posted but for now hypers are the only game in town.

Those are the 4 sticks on the way.....I would suggest not pulling the trigger until I test them...

We ordered 2 sets he has the other 2 sticks and is having no luck at rated.

Why does it matter? It's only the ICs that are good, and the tuning done by chew*. If you are really interested in what they are, my bet is on Corsair Dominator GT, 2 sticks of a triple channel kit, look at the SPD, 7-8-7-20 timings at rated speed, so most likely the 1000MHz kit.

Thanks for the thread chew*, I wonder who is sending all those PMs to you...

hows amd handling high vdimm chew?
does the imc like d9gtr style pounding?

would be a good alternative since micron can do 800+ 665 as well and is cheap these days, only drawback is its 1gbit so you need 4 sticks for 4gb or 2 dualsided sticks which wont clock as high... plus it needs 2.2v+ to max out cas6...

Saaya I have run up to 2.3v to a particular set of GTR that is just indestructable for prolonged periods about 5 8 hour bench sessions one of them being at the AMD austin event 2 days back to back.

GTS I have noticed degradation with even only 2.0v on particular sets from a particular manufacturer. I have another set of GTS that seems to be better quality which has been running 1800 7-6-5-15-11 1T at 2.1v for some time now.

No illfate to the cpu's and have noted no degredation to IMC's.

I actually have killed 3 cpu's total. Each time I had a low volt kit installed. 2 times the PWM failed due to condensation one time was with a delidded part just the cpu died.

    The GTR's were doing 1720 6-6-5-15-11 1T at 2.3v

As far as kit you should be buying it based on your own preference......etc quality of manufacturers Bin, warranty service, whether they fit.....and lastly how they look.

As stated this "kit" had a model change.....it's now 7-7-7 1800.......it was replaced so really the model is useless to you not to mention it was from the bad batches.....which I did not want everyone to go searching for to buy

On a side note....I had located OLD stock of 2x2g GTR.....turned out that the model # was indeed correct however what I got sent was not what I paid for......Really don't want to pay diablo's price........

If you know of a lesser "brand" source for 2x2g gtr I will give them a spin

It's a crap shoot now with crucial, not to mention a crapshoot on lifespan.

Best bet is to buy 1.9-2.0v rated stuff.....we were buying 2000 9-9-9 2.0v rated stuff as it was guaranteed but that model got dropped.

Some of the new stuff could be anything, samsung etc etc....

These are a preety safe bet D9 GTS.

wow your gts stuff wasnt very good at all eh?
1800 cas7 needed 2.1v? wow... i have jnl sticks that do 2000 cas7 with 2v... and you know jnl was a step down from gtr/gts
well i have to mention, those were the best sticks out of a few thousand i went through when i worked at cellshock hehehe
but 1800 777... i think more than half of the jnl i worked with could do that, probably 70%... and they only scale up to 1.8-1.9v... so at lower volts too...
have you tried jnl on amd? should work fine, and i think its easier to find than gtr/gts, and probably cheaper too...

i think almost all jnl did 1333 555 with 1.7v iirc, it really didnt like cas6 though iirc...

Nah it needs 2.1 to do 7-6-5. Does 1800 7-7-7 undervolted but on AMD 7-7-7 isn't optimal.

JNL isn't so hot on AMD, OK but nothing spectacular.

    Basically what people need is 5-5-5 1333 or 6-6-6 1600 in a $100 2x2 gig kit.

If one of these Ram companies did that and the IC's worked hassle free on AMD they would have a winner.

I think I may have found GTR/GTS or GTN 2x2g gonna take a chance on em.

i have only 1 dual sided jnl sick
was ES stuff at cellshock when i left... never tried on amd...
but if 1gb jnl works, 2gb should work too...

and in my experience dual sided ddr3 sticks, at least micron, have probs at 1600+, but timing wise they do the same as 1gb sticks... so im pretty sure 1333+ 555 is possible with jnl 2gb sticks... and jnl should be cheap... def give it a try if you see 2gb jnl stuff around!

ive had some jnl 1gb sticks up to 1500 stable with 555 and 1.7v

chew, i just got these corsair sticks and it doesn't want to run at 1600 8 8 8 24 1t, now i'm trying to tighten the timings instead and so far i'm at 1466 6-6-6-18-24 1T at 1.86v. what do you think is a realistic maximum clock i can get with it and perhaps at a safe voltage?

btw, how much would that ram you tested cost like? i am still on the lookout for better modules.

Beats me what IC's does corsair list on there site for that Kit.

My set was about $400 total for a 6 gig kit one stick was sorta DOA.

I may have a 1600 6-6-6 2x2 gig AMD kit on the way for a review but I wouldn't hold your breath as it appears they are short on stock however very curious how they fare.
