Last two bioses (1801 & 2001) are very bad for OC. I had best results with 1706.
Try lower bclk and higher multiplier.

My cpu only works on 1801 and forward though
Anyway my bsod's were software related, clean install solved it and now i overclocked to 3.6ghz@1.3v, everything else on auto. Will play around with the vcore a bit and see if i can lower it
hi all !
i have a problem, i just install gskill pc17600 Pi but impossible to go to 2200mhz..i don't see where i can desynchronise Ram..! not possible on maximus III ? ()
i must do bclk 220 for ram at 2200mhz of course and my i5 750 stop at 210..
someone got a solution ? Grrr..... perhaps beta bios..
thx a lot !
Just change memory multiplier.
rafa,if you can do that on maximus III formula ,i have a clone motherboard
i espere future bios permit that...exemple bclk 180 memory 220 or more... but i think it's a dream..!!!! motherboard at 150 dollars do that but no maximus III.....so my i5 750 work penibly with mini 1.64 vtt for bclk 220...,that's my solution to exploit ddr gsk 17600 pi..if problem i will explain that at RMA..... !!!!
thx

What is the best bios for stable overclocking?
I'm currently running BIOS 2001 and its worked quite well for me so far, however I'm only running 24/7 stable settings - nothing extreme.
3.8Ghz @ 1.300v (actual 1.317v under load)
2000Mhz 8-8-8-20 @ 1.64v (actual 1.712v under load)
IMC @ 1.356v (actual 1.457v under load)
Bclk @ 200
*voltage measured with DMM*
My temps are all under control but I'm not comfortable with my IMC voltage which seems very high given my settings? I've tried methodically lowering that voltage but anything lower caused LinX to fail, with that said I can lower to 1.325v (actual 1.378v under load) which is Prime95 (large-FFT's) 24/7 stable but again LinX fails quickly? I am now working on testing different combination of settings in hopes of getting stable with lower overall voltages but I'm not hopeful? I might try using an older BIOS after reading what rafa mentioned about 1801 and 2001 and I'll post back if I have any results to share.
Asus Maximus III Formula (2001)
Intel i7 860 (L924B516)
Noctua D14
Corsairs CMG4GX3M2A2000C2 (2 x 2GB) RAM
eVGA GTX480
DD-H20
BIX GTX360
MCP35X PWM
Creative X-Fi Titanium PCI-e
LG GGC-H20L Blu-Ray
Toughpower 850w Modular
GSkill Phoenix Pro SSD 120GB
HEAT
Thanks!
yes it's cpu who limit..beta bios doesn't exist on this board ?
thx
