Guys, with low-end gpu's it doesn't matter how much CPU power you have ... the GPU will be the limiting factor anyway.
GeForce 9500GT 128-bit GDDR2 $40
GeForce 9500GT 128-bit GDDR3 $60
Radeon HD 3850 128-bit GDDR3 $80
Radeon HD 4670 128-bit GDDR3 $60
Radeon HD 4650 128-bit GDDR2 $55

So, what card is the favorite? I grabbed an el cheapo open box 1gb from newegg. I figure if it's real dog, I can always throw it in one of the cheap builds I sell occasionally and try something a little better. I hope you guys are gonna share mod tips and pics because I need help!

Mems might not go that high?
BTW there's 3 different versions, GDDR2, DDR3 and GDDR3, so is DDR3 and GDDR3 versions same or different versions?
These cards are little pricy over here :/
64€ => 94$...
But what the hell, let's get one and kill it!
4.5-5GHz E8x00 or 4.0-4.4GHz I7 should be enought with these.

Yeah, exactly what s0lid said, I have a feeling the mem might not be the best for oc but perhaps I'll be lucky. We shall see.
edit: My thoughts when ordering were, if I totally hate the card, I'll throw it in a cheap build I'm doing for a neighbor and simply order a nice MSI or Giga 512.

The 512mb is 1000mhz mem and they do easely 1200mhz
And 100mhz mem can do alot for your scores because the card is not cpu bottlenecked but mhz on core and mem bottlenecked
I have played with theese cards alot and i have nearly all the wrs with them

Just woke up, whip up or copy that logo and get this under the hwbot competition engine.
All along the watchtower the watchmen watch the eternal return.

Sent Massman a PM with the info for the challenge. The card of choice is the Radeon HD 4670, so whip out your credit cards and start swiping! The challenge starts in roughly 10 hours, hopefully we'll have a HWBot page up in the next couple of days so the early birds can start submitting scores
I have 300k+ in aquamark3 ready and 25k+ in 3d05 ready new wrs for that card

Hwbot's engine is ready to host scores from the moment it goes online.
Let's see some BIG scores people!
Where courage, motivation and ignorance meet, a persistent idiot awakens.
Ok, now the important part. If you are competing in the challenge this year please PM me and I will give you the password. This will insure that those submitting scores will also be posting in this thread. I'd like to keep all the conversation centralized so we can all share the stories that are sure to occur. Good luck everybody!
SCRATCH THAT!
Ok, turns out the hwbot HCE has a few bugs regarding passwords and such. The competition will be open to the general public so we might get some randoms in there also. Once Massman sees my PM I imagine it'll be open season, so have fun guys
