GPU-z doesn't report real clocks (when in 2D) on its main screen but does so in sensor tab. This is common with every card and not just 5870...

thats by design. first tab shows "performance" values

it will create a ton of trouble with noobs who wonder why their card is running at 100 mhz instead of the promised 800 mhz. definitely won't change this

Agree, but in my case it's not changing def. clocks even after applying 900/1300 in CCC! Main tab still says 850/1200 in both fields.

I'm in bed now, so SS will need to wait till tomorrow morning.

Hey Lightman, that card you're comparing to is mine. What driver are you using? I can't get any reproducable results atm I'm getting anywhere between 8000 and 12,000 points. I have tried the cd driver and the beta from AMD, so far the cd (older) seems better.
My card is a Sapphire. CPU is 965 @ stock.

I think they need to redo the 5870's shroud & back panel. It seems too restricted for good airflow.
