My Sapphire on the way ...

I have a request to anyone with ASUS HD5870! Rip the BIOS and post it! I will most likely need Voltage Tweak for this weekend!
I just hope ATiFlash/WinFlash recognises these new cards

Regarding obvious bottlenecks for HD 5870:
    - memory bandwidth
    - probably still 1triangle/clock for geometry (CF can do 2/clock)
    - immature drivers (similar internals to RV770, yet different which means some optimizations can't be transferred/new can be created)

I thought the same thing but Newegg charges me tax so TigerDirect was $80+ cheaper.

    £379 with 15 nwd shipping
    that's nearly 400 pounds

What's the difference? Well ocers suck and don't have stock, they're lying. What they do is keep the price low on out of stock parts and pump the price of what they have.

so you can look and say 'holy sht that's a rip off, but at least they have other vendors at a reasonable price'

    ..oh wait..

    £298.99 inc VAT
    £259.99 ex VAT

im assuming that nwd means next working day...

so thats DPD Next Day Parcel £9.00

either im wrong as its late or its not ANYWHERE near the $700 you said above ... or the 400 with your revised random figure?

    ..not in stock

they keep the prices low on cards they say they have in stock and pump the ones they actually do

only novatech had legit sales of a card at a decent price (£320) and they were nearly all preorders

And I bought 2 of them for nearly 400 each after getting ing fed up of order delays, I placed 8 orders before I managed to get REAL in stock
    so bite me

...maybe you forget that small independant retailers overcharge and the fact that all the big retailers right now sold their cards out in minutes means buying online from small, lesser known stores

    again, bite me

so how is that nearly 700$ as stated earlier? that is the point.... and because you paid more to get them now what's that got to do with the price of fish?

There was link above somewhere rumouring about 1000Mhz @1.3V (over std 1.1V), and 1050Mhz @1.4something...
IMHO, that's crazy. We're talking 40nm here, not 130nm Northwood P4. If at std volt its 180W, OC with overvolt can easily be pushing 300W+.

Hope you have big copper pot and big tank of LN2

ati 5850 at zipzoomfly. Also have the 5870 instock if anyone is still looking. Please note that they seem to add $20 to any card that is in stock.

    Thumbs up

I got the XFX 5870 from Newegg today. No tax, Bing cashback and a $20 off promo code.

Anyone heard if Thermalright will have a cooling solution soon for the 5870?

Tigerdirect currently has the XFX 5870 listed as "order today, ships today" instead of the pre-order they had this morning. I just ordered one, after just missing it at newegg earlier this afternoon.

    Talking

    heh... check this out

Why is AMD focusing so much on DX11 when most games are on DX9 console ports?

Today and over the life of the Radeon HD 5000 series, dozens of triple A titles will leverage DirectX11 features. If NV was able to produce a DirectX11 card today, they'd be delivering a much different narrative on DirectX 11 to the press. If NV really believes that DirectX11 doesn't matter, then we challenge them to say that publically, on the record.

Aren't they punishing PC gamers by pushing out the schedule of PC titles such as Dirt 2 in order to support DX11?

Proprietary standards punish gamers, not industry standards like DirectX11. Why is NVIDIA punishing gamers by putting in proprietary and closed standards like PhysX in games?

When are GPU-accelerated Havoc titles going to be shipped? Do they have a list of games that will support Havoc?

PhysX has been around for years and years, but today, GPU-accelerated PhysX titles are still in the single digits. The physics experiences that many of those titles delivered have disappointed gamers and were widely panned by the press worldwide. GPU accelerated game physics will only be accepted in the marketplace when industry standards are embraced.
AMD respond to NVIDIA's tough Radeon HD 5800 questions

It seems TigerDirect is doing physical inventory right now so any new arrivals are showing up as "backordered" intil they are counted. They might very well have other brands in stock too. They say it will be up to 48 hours before inventory is correctly listed on the website.

I can't even imagine the length and the power consumption of the 5870X2!!!
I'll take a wild guess saying they will:
    a) use 5850/5870 mix cores to avoid too much heat and power consumption and avoid too long PCB
    b)Make a dual PCB card
C)Go for the homerun with a single, extremely long PCB and enormous power consumption!
