Thumbs down gaind 6C on CPU! :(

Well guys I'm not sure what went wrong I had some AS5 or MX-2 don't recall on a lapped TRUE and lapped Q6600 and yesterday I needed to remove the board so I pulled it and cleaned her up and I reapplied thermal paste (chill factor)

    Previous Idle temps with a 3.4GHz OC 38C Core 0 Load 58C
Current Idle temps 44-46C Core 0 Load 65C
^I never used the side panel before, both of those temps are with the panel OFF! On yields the same results tho.

Now the only thing that changed was heat sink rotation. Its still vertical just the other side is facing the right. (rotated it 180) and the thermal paste. Not only that but I added 3 120mm fans and the PC is running cooler! (MB ram GPU)

    Heres the pics btw

Probably just a bad mount, re-seat the cooler (maybe spin it back to how it was too, could be an uneven base that performs better in the opposite direction) and see how it runs.

It also takes time for the paste to set in for better heat transfer right? correct me if im wrong....

AS5 does, TX-2 MX-2 MX-3 and TX-3 dont need to cure...no Idea about chill factor.

Some do, some dont. Lapped on lapped it is better to use a small grain TIM like Ceramique. Lapped TRUE on a lapped E8400 is the only time I've had Ceramique get identical temps to Shin Etsu, though Shin Etsu performs better on unlapped surfaces.

Chill Factor has no curing time either.
