Room temp is 76F with AC running.

    Gigabyte MA790FXT-UD5P
    AMD 965BE

I did not have a system up and running so I did a quick instal of Win 7 and ran everything at stock Win 7 install. The only thing turned off is the screen saver and power options.

As I only have a Cooler Master V8 for a Air Cooler I used that. Two extra fans added and I even threw in a Chilly1 SS Phase with a plate mounted to the Evap to help spread the cold around and put that next to the intake fan, didn't help much tho LOL !

No real tuning was done for these tests.

Here is the setup amd with it running.

First picture is a pure stock default setting of 3.4ghz and everything on Auto for a base line run of temps.

And the same, but after 5 minutes of completion of the stock test.

Now the test is at 3.8ghz

    And after test completed

And finally at 4.0ghz at idle.
I just threw this up as I have not tuned this setup hardly at all, temps would rise to high and crash the comp so I did not run that one.

    Buckey is disqualified.

For already being a lucky bastard.

That is a sweet looking cooling setup.

Looks like your V8 had some benefit from the cold air. But wanted even more. If you spent another week on it...

    Very Helpful!

its not so hard 4 GHz without higher NB (CPU with 3800 MHz and with NB 2600 MHz has better performance). Hard is 4GHz and 2600-more NB with AIR (great Titan!). With higher NB clock is harder get stability chip.

What a shame I haven't got AC unit!
To get cold AIR I would need to wait 4-5 months

But if +19C room temp is cold enough I can participate with some 3.8GHz(64bit) or 4+GHz(32bit) runs

wait im still confused by the title and rules, is this only for those who have 955/965 CPUs? I mean I have a unlocked 550. Plus does it need to be overclocked, im still working on things and my Tuniq Tower is not helping much in my hot apartment.

I know it shouldn't bother me, but the "ugly" comment kinda does....

Maybe I just upgrade too often, I have a bad habit of slapping stuff together just so I can play with it (It don't make me bad! )....

As far as my ghetto WC unit goes, I built that thing from scratch way back when I found a 4800 X2 Toledo (8 years ago?). It never was pretty, but it did and does work well...
It spent a couple years in the closet, but when I got the 9950BE I decided to pull it out again, since then it's been through a number of Rads/Mods and everytime it's gotten even uglier....

I've been meaning to redo the whole thing anyway... Labor Day weekend is coming up, and after seeing some of these rigs it's spurred me to finally redo the whole thing!

ANYWAY, I put my ASUS/940 rig back together tonight and decided to try and redeem myself a little...
I could have done better but I didn't feel like pulling the Mobo so I could run the Aux Power and Front Panel connectors under the Mobo, which would make it look alot cleaner...

Here's a few pics of the 940 rig... I may not be as good with wire management as some of you folks, but at least you might see I'm not a total slob...

Hehe... The "Ugly Monster" still lives in it's original Config wuttz...

The Asus/940 pics are the guts that used to be in that rig, now Air Cooled in my Ubuntu/Win7 multi boot box...

I'm always playing with stuff, I recently bought an Asus M4A785TD-V Evo to replace the biggest POS Phenom board I ever owned (GBT DS5) that used to be my HTPC... I tore the Asus/940 rig apart for parts on the HTPC and just hadn't put it back together again...

I'm really happy with all 3 machines now, the "Ugly Monster", the Ubuntu Box (Asus M3A79-T/940) and the HTPC Box (Asus Evo, w/Unlocked 720)...

Now I just need to buy a Case and PSU, so I can sell the DS5/9950 rig to get a new VC for the "Ugly Monster", then I can start all over and move the 4850 to the HTPC....

    I may need "Harware Anonymous"...

To make things even worse, I'm drooling for a 965....
My best PHII so far is the 550X2, it actually smokes my 940!

I have a bud with alot of tools, I already talked to him and he's gonna help me redo my WC case this weekend. I'll post some pics when I get it all straightened out. Even if I can only apply 1/2 my ideas it should be pretty nice...
