Question Could really use some help understanding Sony Sound Forge and Vista 64

I am running Vista 64 on a Asus P6T Deluxe. Recently I have decided to start digitizing a couple hundred records I have so I went out and bought the Sony PS-LS300USB turntable bundled with Sony Sound Forge LE. Set everything up per instructions using USB. It records great. But I cannot hear the sound live... only on playback. Below is a pic of the Sound control panel. Have everything setup per the instructions yet I get no sound out of the speakers when its recording. Would like to be able to hear the music live so if I hear a pop or a skip in the record I can try and clean it before wasting anymore time trying to record it. Do I need to buy a sound card and plug in the RCA jacks of the turntable to hear the music live while recording through USB? Anybody with knowledge on this help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bill

this is win7 but i am pretty sure it is similar if not the same on vista
and showing the mic active makes me think this will do it
it is called monitoring by most people and devices but here win7 is giving me the 'listen' option
