    $150 CPU+Motherboard+RAM

I was looking for a cheap mATX combo to put in my semi truck that can play some light old school games, and use Windows 7, and a small mATX case. I want to OC it at first just to see and then run it stock speeds and under volted because it will run on truck battery alot.

    So I bought a...

    Athlon II X2 240
    GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H
    2GB Gskill DDR2 800 ram

Got it from newegg for 150, was this a decent deal? I was going to go Intel but for the same price and a E5200 the boards were complete crap and this board looked alot better.

Well anyways it should be here soon and I will post some OC screens maybe on water at first!

I just checked newegg.com, the cheapest I could get your setup for was $170. The motherboard is showing $79.99 currently.

Did you get that as a combo deal?

Ya if you click on the CPU first and go to combo's it was like $18-5 so -$23 total off of it.

forgot I had a coupon too. oh well, will use it next time

But when it arrives, I will throw some volts + water on it

This may have been a better deal, 6 ish more bucks for slightly more processor.

But still not a bad deal.

That's a sweet deal. Too bad they don't offer the same combo for Canadians. (often the best combos are not offered on newegg.ca)

Did the same source also tell you that we ride Polar bears to work, and seal skin bindings are the main industry here?

Now I just need a decent VERY small mATX case, a very good wireless card (for the truck stops, my laptop gets very bad signal) and I'll just pick up a 1TB HD and partition it.

I need good power efficiency, so the 240 CPU may be good because it might get lower voltage then the 250 would get at 3ghz (vs 2.8ghz on the 240)

This is the case I was thinking of getting - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811133036

Do they just use a full size ATX PSU? I see no decent mATX PSU's on Newegg

Also, don't the make a carrying strap for small LAN party cases, with like little bag on the side for mouses/keyboards/etc? I know I've seen them before but can't think of where.

Looks like a nice case. Just keep in mind that you can't put a whole lot in it, most video cards will not fit. And as one reviewer there pointed out, get a modular power supply! If you don't, the rats nest of cables will drive you nuts and make the build very messy, as well as restrict air flow.

Do you absolutely have to have the smallest case possible? Those tiny cases can drive a person crazy. The Antec mini P-180 is nearly the same size, 6 inches larger in one dimension. The Thermaltake VF1000 will use a standard ATX PS.

Wireless card I am not sure about.

That looks like a nice case, but it's too tall. It's gotta be pretty small. I won't be using a videocard just the onboard will be more then enough (will beat the crap out of my laptops GM960). I'll have a Wireless card and 1HD no DVD drives.

I already have a PSU and rats nest won't matter too much since no window :P plus i'll use zip ties and i'll undervolt everything to keep the heat and power consumption to smallest amount possible.

Although now that I think about it I should get a very power effecient 300w PSU

that setup will use under a 100 watts full load if you stick to the on-board gpu.

Yes and I will undervolt everything too. Looked at the boards manuals and it has voltage control for everything!

Going to buy this PicuPSU http://www.mini-box.com/picoPSU-150-XT hopefully it works with my spare laptops power adapter

Also got my old laptops 2.5inch 5400RPM SATA hard drive its the size of a credit card. Got this working in my old P4 last night so should work fine in this

Should be very lower power when its done. When I get it though gunna throw a bunch of volts see if I can get it near 4ghz for a bit
