    Pentium E6500K Cracks 6GHz Mark!

The overclocker DFORDOG from Expreview forum has successfully overclocked Intel’s Pentium E6500K processor to a whopping 6GHz, which proves its great overclocking potential once again.

With the help of liquid nitrogen, DFORDOG conducted the fest with Biostar TP45 HP motherboard, K|ngp|n F1 cooler and 2×1GB of Geil memory. The validation can be viewed here.......

Who cares about voltage under LN2 / Dice as long as it works?

It won't work for very long past some voltage.

Seems like at that speed, the chip already hits the ceiling. Hmmm... No 7GHz?

That would be a better feature, IMO.

No big sponsored show? No overclocking celebrities names? And even no cherry picked CPUs? No, it's not interesting at all.

    Amazing perf in SPi 1M @ 4Ghz
Even "old" E6600 can easily beat it

Why stop at 1.8v? We need a ~6.8GHz validation and some 6.5GHz benches

Not the point. Remember how we used to blast 2.0v through Conroe and 1.9v through Wolfdale all the time? Overclocking isn't an endurance race

Once again not the point. This chip is 50% the cost of an E8600. It is also a castrated chip, so realistically it won't be the same bin as an E8600.

i believe its even less than 50% of the E8600 price. cause there are pc shops in my area that still have the E8600 for a price of 230 - 300 euro's. where the pentium E6300 is available for 60-80.

This still looks like a fun chip, need to get this one together with a 4730 or something. should be interesting for buget ocing

This result is pretty decent for these "crippled" Wolfdales, only a handful of those have gone above 6G

Take a P35 board and boot 400x17, or a good old commando and boot 600x17
Crappy chip or low coldbug i think.

Why does it have to be a commando mate ? REX should do the job as well...

6ghz is always nice.. i wish intel would have put this unlocked multi option to another chip though. like to the 8X00 line chips..now that would have been interesting

it's a shame intel had to make the first unlocked 45nm chip in the e6xxx family. wished they would have put in the e8xxx instead

6ghz isnt amazing, especially with 1.8v... but considering the price... this is quite some bang for the bug!!!

but come on intel, bring on the E0 unlocked chips and lets see some real damage

Personally I think its pretty good, considering the price/its a low end chip. Why don't they make every CPU unlocked? Does it really cost that much more?
