    Question Amaze HD4890 - NCP5388 based - pencil and other mods ?

Anyone tried an Amaze HD4890 850/975 stock card with non-reference PCB and OnSemi NCP5388 0917 dated controller with Qimonda memory ? It's same PCB design as Powercolor PCS HD4890

Any possible pencil or volt mods ?

    1GB Amaze HD4890

looks exactly like Powercolor PCS HD4890 PCB below.

Hm, if you mod through the FB, you'll be hitting the OVP at around 1.48V.

If you want to go higher, you'd better do a VID modification as well.

Hm, I even think VID mods will be easier (pencil).

Can you provide a high-res close-up of this area:

Okay, that's what I hoped for. I'll make the picture later today; it's really easy.

    nice pics

that card has no i2c support, so i doubt what rbe says is accurate. many manufacturers leave the volterra voltage code in the bios so they dont have to request special stuff from ati

Thanks... didn't know that, so guess need to know the read points for voltages too.

    RBE Bios Profile

Has same bios checksum value as Powercolor PCS+ HD4890

    > read points

yes that would be a good idea, but you can figure those out yourself using the caps on the back

afaik software cant monitor this chip, can it ?

Please verify if the voltage is really 1.13125V with a digital multimeter. I'm pretty sure it's correct, but wouldn't want to be wrong .

Well I grabbed my Digitech QM1538 multimeter (old batteries so not sure of it's accuracy) and measured at the following locations and got for GPU volts 1.206v idle and 1.378v load for 3dmark06 and 1.391v load for GPU Tool stability test. Looks like maybe the card is already overvolted to hit 850/975 so poor clocker to start with ? Or my multimeter is off heh.

Not sure what 1.604v idle/1.62v load volt is ? Memory ??
