    thanks chri$ch for your answer.

    got retail 860 (L926B436).
expected little bit better than i920.
with ht=on over 4,2 is hard
with ht=off over 4,3 is hard
ram is ok till 2300 cl9 with 1,40v imc.
i think i got a bad chip and the story with good and bad goes on like with i7920.
this would all be ok if the 860 would be cheaper then 920.

Cooler Master Hyper 212 plus does support on LGA 1156 $30 USD
About P7P55D Pro, it does support SLI however doesn't come with SLI bridge cable...there is no SLI bridge cable you can buy in the market except some used in ebay.
and P7P55D crossfire mode is x16x4 instead of x8x8

    You're right !
I just dowloaded the manual on Asus Website (new version, more beefy but was expected ...) and the specifications tells 16X/4X on Xmode.

    IMO, it really sucks ...

I am totally agree with you, for the same price there is a Asock x58 extreme(best rating in newegg), that is why I got a economic version.

I'm thinking about getting the P7P55D "vanilla", can you recommend this board for overclocking? Or is MSI P55-GD65 the better choice?

    p7p55d EVO + Gskill F3-12800CL7D-4GBRH

Hi peeps im having real trouble trying to figure this out. im on stock cooler. When i power on. Fans move a little, leds flash then switch off every few seconds. When i push the onboard switch just at the right time sometimes system will boot. At first i thought it must be due to old bios...i managed to get in bios quickly flashed to latest bios 0606..I thought maybe its the memory so i tried some OCZ which are in the QVL...still same issue. I can boot but it takes forever.

I even got as far as installing Vista x64 everything working BUT when i shutdown windows & try and switch on again. Issue remains the same.. has anyone here had any similar experiences?? id really appreciate any input.

Once the system is running all is well it only happens when i first start the pc or after shutting down.

    no boot issue solved

    My OCZ 850GXS PSU was the culprit. I used my Tagan U33 880Watts everything booted 1st time. Currently running i7 860 @ 4.1Ghz 1.35V DDR3 1530 CAS 7 7 7 24 1T

Temps are quite hot I need a good cooler im thinkin of gettin Corsair H50 when the 1156 bracket comes out.

Any other suggestions?? anyone using the Artic freezer Rev2 ? any good?

    that's a bummer re PSU.
860 runs pretty warmish, i've been using aNoctua NH-U12P see link for more info Air cooling section. A bit dear but worth it espedcially as it comes with 2x fans which ratail themselves for around £30

I just installed my P7P55D, together with my new i5 750, and what can I say?? I am amazed!! Set Bclk to 200 in BIOS, changed multi to 20, RAM to 1600, saved and it booted right into windows, everything else is on "Auto"!!

I'm using the PC for over 2 hours now (Internet etc.), no problems so far, will run some Prime tomorrow to check stability!

nothing screenshot worthy yet, just a low voltage run to check out the turbo with C-STATE enabled and set to C6.

    Prime95 Stable
    Super PI 1.5XS 1M: 12.339s C-STATE disabled, 21x max multi.
    Super PI 1.5XS 1M: 10.920s enabled at C6, 24x max multi.

Idle temps dropped from 38C to 32C with C-STATE enabled.

Surprisingly, with my i7 860 and ASUS P7P55D I just upped the BLCK to 180 and set the multi to 20x and left everything else on Auto (though I disabled Turbomode and the likes). I was left with a surprisingly stable OC for a full 12 hours of benching.

I'm now tweaking it to find the sweet spot that I'd like to run 24/7. I'll edit this post later with my detailed BIOS settings.
