i saw that that psu has multiple +12v rails. are there any pros/cons to having multiple rails compared to having just one?
if u have 1 rail then u dont have to worry about splitting up componants but with 2 rails on a mid watt unit it will have 1 rail for the cpu and one for the gpu. i personally use 1 and 2 rail units only since once u get above that it gets confusing keeping things on the right rail to not overload it. but like i said with 2 its once for the cpu and one for the gpu. for the accessory it has them split so half of the plugs are on one rail and the other half on the 2nd rail.
its well designed

There is no real advantage to either. The only thing you need to keep track of when using multiple rails is that you spread out your components across the rails. You don't have to worry about that with a single rail, but it's really not that hard to keep track of...
If you want a great single rail PSU, for only $85.00, you can get the PCP&C 610w.
This should be more than adequate for a 4890 and then some.
+1 by far the best PSU listed... Even the 500w will run great and for $69 is easily your best bet. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817703015
I replaced a 750w in my secondary PC with the above and it's running the 8800Ultra (aka power hog) fine. PC Power & Cooling = best.

is that pc power & cooling better than the corsair tx650?
i ended up going with a tx750. pleasantly satisfied
Actually, the inverse is true, not as stated above.
Opening both power supplies up and while both are based on the same exact Seasonic platform, the Corsair used 105C rated Japanese capacitors, almost exclusively Chemi-Con, throughout its build, and is the same build as a Corsair 620HX (according to a Redbeard comment.)
The PCP&C 610, on the other hand, when opened was found to use a mix of 105C and 85C rated capacitors from both Japan and Taiwan (Chemi-
Con for the Japanese, OST for the Taiwanese, which are not the highest quality....and much lower quality than the ones in the Corsair.)
Hardware Secret's review of the PCP&C 610...page five, caps listed at bottom of page.
SPCR's look at the 650TX....page 3 with internal shots, while name of caps not listed, easily seen they are Chemi-Con, if one knows what one is looking at.....
