What happens if your PSU overheats?

    Hi all,

I just built my own watercooled case and I cant seem to find a good place for my psu.. I have a PC&PC 1200w and Im gonna try running it without a fan, it was one of the objective in my case design to get rid of that annoying sound... My idea before was to take out the lid and have a 200mm fan blowing at it but with all the cables and its weight and limited space its alot harder than I thought.. But now I think I found the perfect spot, im going to have it sit between my 2 rads and just underneath one of the 200mm fan blowing out.. If for some reason it doesnt get enough cooling and overheats, what happens? does it just shuts off? Im thinking it should be pretty safe but just want to be sure...

Here's what it looks like, there's another rad on the open wall...Im going to take the lid off the psu, should work without the fan right?... thanks in advance..

If your PSU overheats it will probably shut itself down. At least, that is what it should do. But some cheap psu's do not have this function, maybe you should take a look on the box of yours. If it says it's overheating protected, it will just shutdown, cool down and run again!

It will automatically shutdown. Or it'll be faulty and start an electrical fire.

For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.
