    Swapping X58 motherboard

    Hi,

I'm upgrading from a Gigabyte UD4P to a Asus P6T6 resolution. I was wondering if any of you guys, who swap motherboards pretty often have any suggestion in preserving the stuff on my OS. I've been tweaking around the different OS's I have installed (Win 7, Vista, XP all 64-bit editions) and would like to keep them how I have them atm.

Also, anything else I should be worried about compatability wise?

    Thanks!

Should swap out no problem since they are both X58. Done it. NIC drivers will probably change on first boot, sound and maybe some other small things

    especially win7
i've swapped a x58 to a x38, but it took like 2min for first start the list of new devices detected was crazy , worked great tho.
But i would always favor a clean install if possible

I just swapped from a P6T-SE to a Rampage II Extreme and it just reinstalled the devices automatically and was good to go.

I would consider clean install, some files are only installed when doing a clear installation of windows according to present motherboard. You might not even notice it in some cases, but still. You might give it a shot tho'.

Is there any reason in particular you are changing them out? I am about to buy the UD4p in the next few days. Should I just get the P6T Deluxe v2? Are you having stability issues? I'm wondering if the UD4P is a good buy. I intend to OC my CO chip to about 3.6-3.8 if it's capable.

I'm just looking for some feedback about it.

Do you have any boot up issues or cold boot issues? I want a mobo that is stable.

nah no problems. Just needed a mobo with lower PCI-e placement so I could fit a radiator in the top of my V2000. For me, I got my C0 up to 4.2 Ghz 1.32v stable 24/7.

the bios releases on tweaktown are fantastic also!

I switched from the EVGA X58 (vanilla) to the DFI DK X58, no problems, first boot it detects some stuff and after a reboot all was fine
If I had switched to an AMD motherboard then it would probably be wise to reinstall Windows but this time everything is good

Friend: Do you have a spare PSU lying around?
    Me: No why?
Friend: My PSU just blew up, I think the second 8800GTX might have been too much for it to handle
Me: what PSU was that again?
