Which one do you prefer??
Finally gigabyte listened to me and removed that orange from secondary PCIe

Whats the chip in the middle on the Gigabyte?
You mean under the northbridge heatsink? itīs the PCH.
I just dont see the appeal of these cut down 1366 boards. me hugs my i7 920 d0's. 775 socket is still a damn good platform.
it still has ide port :|
at least no more FDD port
Looks wise the GigaByte board. I find the whole mediterranean theme they've got going classy and it sets them apart from others who have mainly switched to black PCBs. My biggest complaint about it is that it makes both PCIe x1 pretty much useless in the most common scenario (dualslot VGA). It's nice how they are thinking of all the sentimental types who just can't seem to part their ways with their ancient hardware by still providing the COM port.
ASUS has some new nifty features though like oldschool turbo button "emulation" whereas you press the case power button, it switches to an OC profile. The remote thingy could've been executed better by making it 5.25 bay installable. This is the second time someone has dropped the ball on that, and it's even worse in ASUS's case since a 5.25 bracket would have cost them less than the plactic enclosure it currently sports.

i think the 24pin on the asus board is way to close to the heatspreader, but that's just me!
Ah, cheers for explaning
very nice!
now make them change the yellow and red connectors too and they finally have the colors sorted out properly
really funny isnt it? asus seems to be copying the same color sheme as gigabyte now...
the only diference seems to be that gigabyte uses blue pcb, and asus uses grey and black slots while gigabyte uses white only a secondary color for slots.
Ugly heatsinks, beautiful PCB though!
which one? i kinda like the gigabyte heatsinks...
the asus pwm heatsink is... ok...
the chipset heatsink looks dirt cheap though...
It looks dirt cheap since it's covered by a semi transparent plastic cover with white LED underneath. It might look nicer with the thing lit up.
Wonder what it's cooling potetial is... there have been some mixed reports on P55 thermals.
EDIT:
Scratch that.

LOL. The thread title confuses me for seconds.
I'll choose the Gigabyte mobo. Good thing they've listen to complaints on the orange PCI-E.
BTW, any word about the 3rd gen. SATA controller in the "retail" boards?

The ASUS here came in a retail box so I assume they're already stocking them, with no SATA 6Gb in sight.
still looks cheap imo :/
square with some lines leaving the center... thats the most simple design i can think of... and covering a heatsink with a big piece of plastic... yeah that sounds like a good idea!
about p55 thermals... you can run a p55 board without a heatsink on the chipset... it gets hot, but you can almost touch it without burning your fingers, at least in idle... so its really not that hot... a bit more than ich10 i think, but barely... i still wouldnt want to put a heatsink on there thats covered with plastic lol, rather no heatsink at all...

my next Board is the MSI P55-GD65 or Gigabyte GA-P55-UD4, i like the MSI because it have not a big Heatpipe, a good layout and colour scheme!
I'm glad Gigabyte is finally using a consistent color pallet. The whole orange thing made me die a little in side each time I looked at one.
That MSI board looks pretty sharp I must say. Having the on board memory controller on 1156 and 1336 makes motherboard choice much easier considering you don't need to worry about considerable performance differences. Its all down to extra features, layout and cooling now.

So you have to take the decision on the same boards as me I completely agree with you!!Other pictures of the Deluxe

Hopefully MSI keeps up their good work of late with the GD65. I don't exactly approve of brown PCB's, but then again, I don't exactly buy boards for looks.
I KNOW MASSMAN DISLIKES YOU.
