    Asus P5E WS (x38) works fine together with LSI 9260-8i (with WD RE3 @ RAID 0 & 1).

Here Asus Rampage II Extreme is mentioned working fine with LSI 9260-8i.
Indeed, it works, but I cannot enter controller bios. No way. Pressing key combination during boot results in nothing, the board continues booting Windows. I haven't seen Webbios since purchase of the controller. LOL I know how Webbios looks like only from screenshots in Internet)) I had to make all raid setup in Windows with Megaraid SM.
    Setup tested:
    Asus RIIE bios 1639, 1704, 1802 (latest)
    9260-8i firmware 12.0.1-0081_SAS_FW_Image_2.0.03-0725, 12.3.0-0022_SAS_FW_Image_APP-2.30.03-0775 (latest)
Does anyone have the same problem?

Dell Perc 5i will indeed work w/ an EX58-UD5 w/ the tape mod. Areca ARC-1220 & Adaptec 31605 will work on it as well.

I had this exact problem with the RIIE and a USB keyboard....

You can solve this by using a PS2 keyboard

I believe this is a RIIE board / bios quirk....

Also thanks for all the new info, folks!

Unfortunately, I have namely PS/2 keyboard (I stick to PS/2 cause I can start computer with key stroke), and the problem persist. The latest LSI firmware 12.6.0-0017_SAS2108_FW_Image_APP-2.60.03-0829 released on May 06 didn't solve the problem .

    Awww rubbish!

It happened to me (though not 100% of the time) when I switched to a PS2 kb as well (you reminded me... lol I was so ).

I think this is caused by several "CTRL + whatever key" to enter bios interrupts happening at the same time....

The way I got around this in the end was to disable all onboard controllers on the RIIE and then I could access the LSI web bios next reboot.... I hope that works for you!

I can confirm that adaptec 2405 works on Asus P5K-E Wifi however you have to remove all pci-ex cards from pci-ex x1 slots to give x4 bandwidth to lower GPU slot otherwise it runs at x2 speeds and adaptec won't boot.

    X58 chipset:

    motherboard: P6X58D-E

    controllers:
-- Highpoint 2314, 2310 (Only works in PCIE slot #2)
-- Generic controller with Silicon Image 3132 chipset (Only works in PCIE slot #2)

    notes:
On this motherboard, it appears any RAID card in PCIE slot #3 will only be polled/detected on a cold boot. PCIE slot #3 loses cards on warm restarts. Observed on (2) P6X58D-E boards, with bios 0108 and 0303.

Forcing x16/x8/x8 or x16/x16/x1 PCIE slot configs in bios settings will not correct issue. This happens with or without PCIE slot #2 populated with a card.

Anyone successful with running any RAID card in PCIE slot #3, please report back, thanks.

I've found that the "Asrock P67 Extreme4" won't post with an Adaptec 8085.
It does seem to post with the 3805 though.

Is anyone else having problems with the Asrock boards or the P67 chipset?

Tried a friend's Areca 1880-ix12 on my evga SR-2 a few days back - no go. Controller wouldn't show up for POST, and no lights were on either. Seems it didn't like the NF200 controlled lanes or something... No trouble with an LSI 9260-4i though.
Oh yeah, LSI 9260-4i also working great on an Asus Rampage III Extreme.
