No, profiles are like preset options for your settings in WCG.

For example, you set a profile named A to use 100% of the CPU. Profile A is your default profile for your account, every computer that is installed under your account will use 100% CPU for BOINC.

By the way, thanks for joining from the last SuperComputer event and our new one is coming soon!

A look at Vapor's PPD Predictor Thread takes the prediction to around 33k (8.8x3800MHz) WCG PPD a day, that is for the 64bit Windows OS.

Firstly for the max PPD output you should always make sure the settings on your BOINC Manager is, the underlined values are the ones you should watch for:

While processor usage is less than 0 percent.
Use at most 100% CPU time.
Secondly you should always allow your PPD to settle down a bit after you started, mainly for the works to be validated; let's say wait for about 5-7 days.

Also to keep in mind that you should always allow some deviation from the PPD predictor thread as there are always different scenarios for different machines. Some people on this team dedicates their i7 machines for crunching and they don't regularly use it, a part of the PPD Predictor is based off those kind of numbers. Also, different overclock settings might also effect your PPD.

If you've done all of the above, don't worry much. The points you are producing isn't half bad..

    Have fun here

On a note for crunching on gaming laptops, make sure you have sufficient cooling on your lappy. Some sort chill pad works wonderfully for extending your laptop's life.

just use the same email and password that you registered for the first system with. then the second computer will show up on your account as well as your first system

i just wanted to ask everyone what sort of temps are you getting running wcg @100% with the cpu
mine is running about mid 60's now
i needed to put my pc back in the bed room as the rig was not booting i needed to wait about 20mins for the hdd's to warm up before it will boot properly and im just wanting to make sure the rig is not getting to hot now its in the room again im only asking becuse i have overclocked the cpu more since it was in a colder place

ps the h50 cooler has a akasa viper 120mm fan on it its a pwm fan and it's running about 1600rpm but can do 1900 rpm (acording to box specks) im just thinking that is not at a dangerous temp as the fan is not at the highest speed
    im i right on this
let me know if you have the time
    thanks

Depends on what kind of CPU it is. The new I7s are rated to 105C... I've been running mine really hot in the 90C just to see what would happen, (good excuse to go to a hex if it dies :p) but it's still running. Been over a year at those temps now. Really, I wouldn't worry if it was below 80C.

Just about any other chip though is only rated to 80C or so... some 90C... but I wouldn't run those above 70C. Just my opinion.

    Might want to give this thread a read;

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=258247

It's just as Otis said, so long as you're not exceeding the rated temps you're fine. Just depends on what you are comfortable with.

thanks for that looks like im right in the middle with the temp
my cpu is an i7 920@3.8ghz
it just annoys me that to get it to 4.0ghz it need way to much v-core to get it stable
im at 1.26v in bios and cpuid hwmonitor tells me max is 1.17v
so its all good to me
    thanks again for your help

Actually this week the smart play is to choose HFCC and FAAH as they don't require a "wingman" sono waiting for validation.
    HCC does.

Argggh! I changed my settings 6 hours ago. With 28 real cores and 14 virtual cores, my points ain't up to snuff.

Edit: Just logged in over there. Stats are unavailable but this was at the top of the page.

    Welcome back, wfo439 :: Accumulated Points: 133,308

Does that mean I finally got credit for all cores crunching????

Gpugrid is over 350K so that shouldn't figure in. My clients still show me at 28K total.

2 types of points ...wcg points and Boinc points

Boinc points * 7 approx = WCG points

have patience my friend, by the end of the week all will be well

in 10 minutes in "my grid" you can check how many pages of pendings you have...that should give you an idea of how things are going

WCG is like learning a foreign language. Things seemed so much easier at F@H. If I'd known Boinc was Berkeley based, I would have switched long ago. I grew up and spent 40 years in Berkeley. Both my parents went to CAL. Bears over Indians /Cardinals any day. Gooo Bears!!!

    Edit: So I have 199K+?

Oddly enough I found it simple and quite intuitive BUT I started at my leasure and had no reason to push hard in the first few weeks...then of course I found I had 32bit on 64bit machines etc. and needed to start over but hey where's the fun in "simple"

Thanks for the heads up on "My Grid." I have 180 WUs pending approval. I'm showing 261,535 points now. Why does Free DC stats still show me with 33K?

    You back here again?
You going to be one of those "high maintainence"members?
Maybe your due for a call..
    Free-DC is always hours late..
The WCG page is THE page for correct stats.
For example the "pie chart" of the daily top 10 is grabbed at app 2am to get the right numbers that happenned at 8PM the previous night.
Yor doing ok my friend and if you want to get what you do validated faster switch to just the HFCC and FAAH projects as they have no wingman or quorum.
They validate as soon as returned.
Honestly, that is a smart move for everyone this week.

Bit of a points junkie this one.... but stick with him he's one of the good guys from next door (F@H)

All is well Wfo, but if you want to squeeze every last point from your rigs in WCG then GPUGrid is stealing cycles ...If you want to do the most good for humanity leave Grid running... and as a final WCG and Folding GPU go well together

    Guys,

will using 64bit linux be better than using 32bit? (in terms of processing time etc etc)
