edit LOL it screwed my ethernet drivers, had to re-install them

for 3dm05 bench i think it was 1.70 or 1.74, i started @ 1.74 but the 3dm05 run was one of the last i did and i was "only" running 1.70 vdimm and 1.475 vtt on the later runs

    edit
more vtt helped a lot, i was only using 1.52 with 1.6 it's much more stable
let's try some vantage cpu test brb after the crash

So you went from 1097MHz 8-8-8-20 to 1102MHz 7-8-7-20... Very nice!

Thanks for the info regarding VDimm!

i can't bench like that tho, but i can do spi1m and i'll try to mess with timings to do a spi32m run maybe, but i'm not holding my breath for it

    goat
i don't think you can change B2B on the classy BUT with the lastest cpu-tweaker beta you can. B2B really helps, i never could run spi32m @ ~1050 / 8-8-8-20 now i can with b2b=9
big thanks for the b2b advice, this timings is one fo the most important for tri-channel ddr3 from what I've read

i'll try more stuff tonight if i can

Windows 7 and Vista shouldn't make a huge difference, but I recommend Win 7. Go for 32bit, you might be able to clock a bit higher!

mk-ultra, when you buy it in block form how do you crush it? My local dealer sells it to me in pellets. I haven't bought much in awhile because of the price. ($2 lb)

Bahh, sorry guys can't put any 3D results in yet, I'm trying to power the 4870x2 with a 2nd dedicated 1000w psu but no luck, only get the led R753 lit and a long beep with fan at 100% and no post.

i use a screwdriver as a chisel to break smaller pieces of the blocks, maybe 2x2x2, then i put those smaller blocks into a plastic container to crush them....but what do i know, it will be only the second time i use dice mouhahahaha.

i have a question of my own well 2 in fact
you guys see any problems with using dice into a basement? i guess i can just put a fan into a windows to force fresh air to enter. Is the amount of carbon dioxide is that bad?

also i never been able to make s decent 3dm01 score i hate that bench with a passion. It looks like it's no picking up my "sli" setup. i'm using win7 and lastest drivers. Should i try XP or something? stupid old piece of software
edit: my last attemps with 01 gave me like 65k, that's not even into the top100 for a gtx295 lol, definitely something wrong

If it's an open basement, no worries. I've never heard of anyone being overcome by carbon dioxide from benching.

    Vista + 01 = the suck.

+1 - I bench in my large basement with doors open and a fan or two circulating air and I'm fine even after 9 hours LOL

    PCMARK05 - 2D Transparent Window

Got it up and running at 850/950Mhz, dunno if I can go more on air.

My problem is the 2D Transparent Windows test result if WAY OFF, by 9,000 points!

What can I do to correct this (all the other tests were fine).

EDIT: Could it be the card reseting clocks to 500Mhz on 2D?

Question Help with low 2D Transparent Windows - PCMark05

Well I can't even change the Visual Settings because when I do PCMark says it won't run! So I have to leave it on Maximum Detail... Anybody knows the workaround to this and which options to choose?

Well it is definitely a setting that I'm missing, I did 21.5K on my first run with 3,700 2D Transparent Windows points and everybody with less hardware get way over 10,000 points on that.

I'm using Catalyst 9.8 from TweakForce and I did find an option over CCC_3D to disable 2D clocks (didn't seam to help at all).

Acetone is very convenient, actually. If you are doing averything correctly and your temps are OK, you shouldn't be able to smell it 1 m from the container. When you smell acetone, your temps are rising. As long as it's cold, it doesn't eveporate as much.

    thanks for the tip xoqolatl

what i did to sort my 2d problems with my 4870
it's rather simple and it works i guess you can do the same with your 4870x2
i just flashed the bios with the same clocks for 3d and 2d using rbe. This way it won't revert back to those low clocks when you hit the 2d benches.

i hope we'll have our section soon

also stop as much stuff as you can, services/apps or boot into diagnostic start and start the theme service back and set appearance to maximum details

It's not a clock issue or a setting in PCMark 05, you need to enable Windows Aero theme, so you get the transparent windows!

    Hey,
some first Lynnfield numbers are in as I promised; not good for much points but this is just a start. Maximus III Formula is weird a stable, solid and quite fast board, but max BCLK = 210.
