I should be able to pick up a couple global points with my 5870 in heaven!
I should be able to pick up a couple global points with my 5870 in heaven!
congrats daddy-turd! NICE JOB!
Ive been having nothing but trouble in DEC contest.
so far the 370 board is just spinning fans so no go
socket A. the 2 nf7 i bought on ebay for 3 bux plus 15 for shipping that I thought I could fix was a no go. so i have a 3200 barton here that i have no idea what its capable of/
754: I found a 754 nf3 ultra DFI on ebay with a busted cap and I have 2 mobile 4000 and a ddr booster but Im too scared to mess with the cap. I need you help guys. I want to take it off one of the horse crap nf7 and solder it on but its a jap cap and not sure how it will play/
939: got some dice today to try on the dfi infinity on my 170 opteron. pain in the ass. this bench session took me 5 hrs. I had to stick dice pellets on the sb because the cooler was broken. and out of 3 sets of ch5 they all sucked do to board limitation.
the only kit that did anything was the 2x256 kit of gskill tccd. and I managed to fail yet again. just 23sec from top 5.

sucks.
478 someone else has this one so I wont bother.
all in all i forgot how crappy dice is to ln2 and how easy it is to clock a clarksdale and submit a score with a simple pin mod.
this is a nightmare. I wanted to make you proud guys but I feel like I have no help here. I have 4 stages I am trying to do on my own.

Update from today....
Benched a bit with the new SS unit and tested the Q9450 in the EP45-UD3P board.
SS unit runs great. Thanks to Gray Mole for the beautiful unit!
It ran -42 to -44oC with the chip idle and after about 7 Wprime 1024M and 32M runs it dipped down to -39oC but I never saw it get warmer than that.
Finally got efficient scores in Wprime with that CPU so I can get a 5th place in 1024M with 4074mhz(508FSB). Problem is, I couldn't get over 511FSB it would crash at 511FSB right after the 32M run. Tried bunch of voltage settings and I think its maybe a setting I'm missing or the mobo?
I got 525FSB on the EP45T-UD3LR with a warmer SS unit last time I tested this chip so I'm going to throw it on that board tomorrow and see how it goes.
After I get Wprime cleared away with this CPU I'll hit Superpi32M with a properly tuned OS for some fun.
Here are some pics of the SS unit in action today!

Hey thanks for the 'honorable mention'
I love building them, but I don't get to play around benching so it's great to see it in action! Especially that your benching for the XS team
That one saw about -37c at 260w testing, and was good for around 320w max, so you're not really pushing it too much just yet. I think it'll work fine with what I estimate a 6 core at for load, and hopefully one day we'll see that too
Looks good, though I think you should chop up an old case into a 'benching frame and just bolt it to the top of the cooler would look great painted black to match, and make your life easier with the mobo.
Hope you like that line too, the blue light's even prettier in the dark though I guess that's not really what you were getting it for
That's great though, really good to see it get used. Should take a kicking and keep cooling for a good long time

Mr Linuxfan keep it up, your SS looks very nice also!
Thanks Gray!
Tested the SS unit for about 6hrs straight and it worked beautifully again.
I must have hit around 260w load because this time I was able to make it drop down to -37oC after about 5 Wprime 1024M runs in succession on 4 cores at 1.8V CPU.
Got 2nd place in Wprime 32M and 1024M, just couldn't manage to beat the guy in first. Really makes me embarrassed too because he's on air apparently with his chip... I guess its a "cherry" sample.
I got a higher FSB with the EP45T-UD3LR board though maybe its my settings somewhere.
One more picture to show the tubing with the light through it.
Sorry that the pictures haven't been that good, trying to work on that and get better lighting in here soon.
Pushing Superpi32M tomorrow. Got a good fresh OS ready.
Congrats to Aerou on winning the Gigabyte Core contest and making insane 2-Core Wprime scores with his 655k getting 2nd and 4th globally!
My chip turned out to not be good enough for the 4x catagory, it was definitely a tough contest.

chew* and msimax have benched together and posted some nice scores for the 4850 category!
Aerou has pushed his 655k to 6660MHz and there's more left in that chip!
Last but not least Zeus and eRazorEDGE posted two scores for the 5870 Crossfire category of Heaven DX11.
here is something from me without any points!!
still not using the SR-2
Nice points everyone!
Congrats to you Mr Tiltevros - nice sandra for sure!
When do you get your SDR-2 back?
I got my 3rd abit nf7s and was able to install windows so I am hoping to have some decent 462 results in stage 1. I went across the bot and looked for abit nf7 results to see what cpus the guys had for spi 32 and stumbled across this beauty.
admins beware. its a simple mistake on the submitters part. He just selected the wrong board. just thought you might want to make him aware of it.
http://hwbot.org/community/submissio...in_22sec_770ms
I gave up on the 370 stage because the board is just not going at all.
as for my 754 I have mobiles so I shaved off the brackets so they would make contact but on both boards I get a post beep and shut off immediately after. any ideas?

no post at all. its so strange. I have 2 of the best chips for this damn thing and ln2 and the good ram and the board is holding me back.
oh man and that abit nf7-s2 and the 3200 barton. that was a match made in heaven and I had the os installed last night on it and it was going so smooth and I flashed to TICTAC's bios cpc disables and it all went well. i reboot and get in the bios and see the amazing options including multi up. I go 2 multis up and reboot and no post. no matter what I do it seems dead. ive tried all the ram differnt slots / kits, cmos, delete key and power up. no post at all. that 3 nf7 this month.
as for 754 I figured get the best boards and that was the chaintech vnf3/znf3 and the dfi nf3 and 4000+ mobiles. this would be the ultimate setup paired with the ocz ddr booster and my vintage collection of tccd/nh5/ch5 I thought i had this stage for sure.
got the chaintech insulated and I was adjusting my rods just with ice in the container. the mobiles are tricky because the contact area is bare core and very tricky to mount. well something went wrong somewhere down the line because its not posting now. I have 2 of each chip.
I have a netflix acct and hate waiting for the dvd/Br to show up. so I bought ROKU player. Its amazing. its 79 bux little box and you can stream your netflix movies wireless. so the other day i was looking for old kungfu movies and came across some old jackie chan movies. there is this one called "thunderbolt." its jackie chan as a rally race car driver and it rules! he can drive man. anyway in the movie chan's car crashed in the try outs and hes out of a car. then the next day a girl who he found her lost earing at the beginning of the movie comes in with a trailer with 2 identical fully tweaked rally cars and 25 sets of expensive racing tires.
she says if you crash one you have the other one to finish the race with.
this is what we are doing. I never really got it before and when people ask me what overclocking is I tell them its like taking the governor off your car so you can exceed the intended speed. but its much more. were racing computers. and I know you guys have known this for years but I never felt this way.
anyways. I feel like that babe came here with a bunch of boards and 2x everything but I ended up crashing all my cars while driving to the tryouts. I didnt even get in the tryouts and crash them at that time. I crashed them all before even getting to the racetrack.
I wish you guys would kick my ass right now. i deserve it.
Heres a list of the hardware I have:
1. stage one amd socket A
nf7 (x2 vanilla) ************DEAD
nf7 s2 **************DEAD
3200+ barton
2. 478 (not participating in this stage)
3. 754
dfi lanparty nf3 250 gb ************* DEAD
chaintech znf3-250********** DEAD
2x mobile 4000+
4. 370
Asus CUSL2*********** DEAD
pentium 3 1.4 (x2)
5. 939
dfi infinty dagf nf4*********board limited
biostar tforce 6100
opteron 170
WOW what a depressing post Trans. All that dead hardware and only 1 result to show and its not even from the pile of dead hardware. Sorry to hear that dude.
On the brighter side, you can still try to improve on the 939 stage if your still up for it. With those clocks you should be able to shave ~ 30 seconds of your time and even more if you can tighten up your ram timings.
MY FAVORITE UNCLE IS AT IT AGAIN!!!!!!
