Could IRQ sharing be the problem?

edit - ok, yes, maybe vga will do fine but what about sharing bandwidth with an Areca 1231 or 1880?

Of that I am not sure. I didn't lose any efficiency on 790X-UD3P on a 8x (for VGA) + 8x (for Adaptec 5405) setup.

steve these are the boards I came up with

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-223-_-Product

    my board
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16813131655R
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...363R-_-Product
    the best

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...&Tpk=crosshair

    best biostar board

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138193

ASUS Crosshair IV Extreme AM3 AMD 890FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 AMD Motherboard is the best but do you really wanna get into that? I guess if you wanna really have some fun on amd that is a very good investment.
if I had $200 bux to blow on a new board it would be my 1st choice.
steve what bandwidth are your raid cards? If they are x8 like my lsi then there is no need for x16/x16 just get the one I have or similar. how far can you clock your new 6850? is it any good?

Good evening Mr. Transam, I think I will try to get the best score I can with a celeron 440, if you can get your hands on a sempron you should go for it.
Yes, both the Areca 12XX and 1880's are 8x - I suspect I have some other conflict with the P55-UD3 board - probably not pcie bandwidth.

steve I have 2 145 and one 740x3. I am contemplating taking the 740 off the asus and putting one of the 145 on there for the single core stage. I was able to get 350 htt on the asus. the biostar and its mysterious bios i can hit only around 280 htt. or I finally fixed my GA u55m-ud2h so i was gonna try for dual cores. I have a clark 540 and a 660. the 660 is on my 24/7 rig on the max3F but it has x16 x16 so i was thinking that might be rad. I dont have any intel quads but you said paul had the 4 core covered in this one. what should I do? I have a little ln2 left and my only vga is that 5770. I sent in my 5850 back to diamond. hopefully they are cool. I am more curious about that new 6850 you got. is it any good? I wish brian, paul, and you lived closer. we would have it made.

Paul were going to own this regardless of where we live. between you steve and my hdd setups alone. FYI you were the one that got all of is us into the hdd crap in the 1st place. We need to get chew on the hdd game. I know he would have a blast with it. he is old school and benches with ide which is for pci clocking but imagine if he had a state of the art raid card and hdd raid setup he could pull into once in windows. you would see pcmark WRs/ paul he is the equivalent of how you are with hdd benches. he spends all night no sleep and learns every setting.

Im on my 24/7 rig typing this and im on a spare raptor and it feels like a snail compared to my ssd raid lsi set. but i need them for the contest.

PAul this is your time to shine buddy and its time for you to really throw down. Paul we are counting on you. you paved the way for hard drive performance for xs and beyond and if anyone can win this for the team you are it. what hardware do you have to work with as far and boards and cpu's?

okay i ripped through the rest of the ln2 and this is it. i think os install got screwed going to the single core 145 but i took the lead for the team.

Btw my suggestion of extreme was for HT clocking on ddr III which will be needed to max out a single core sempy.

Other than that there are only 2 other choices for high ht and they are both ddr II and one is known to eat cpu's.

Also a little hint, 555's and 560's usually unlock cores are cheaper and clock better than 720/740's and can be used with 3 cores in the 3 core class

I am in the market for an acard but currently......i'm a window shopper, can't afford to do anything but look.

    Good job transam, but:
    1) you submitted it as 3 cores active
    2) you need 1 GHz more on both core and NB

    Excellent score Mr Transam!

    Hey guys,

    yep, I'm still here
Currently in the process of doing some benching on the SR-2 rig (I know I know... way too late). Anyway, I got a few nice results in already, like 3rd global for wprime 32. Now I'm on 3DMark Vantage, however - I need some help.
I used AfterBurnerX V. 1.51 back when I made my single 5870 runs. Now I need to use something more recent because 1.51 won't work any more. 2.00 will only give me 1.35V VGPU though, which isn't enough really if you have 0 degree water flowing through the cards.
So if someone could send me a link to a more recent version of AfterburnerX that would be great

I don't think you can set more than 1,35V with software on reference HD5870s. Also, 1,35V is enough to bench most cards at 1250 core 1300 memory - maybe you're limited by temps (temps, not cooling capacity).

Some nice scores have been posted yesterday:

Nice work with the GTX 480 Lightning, G.Foyle, too bad about the bad Gulftown.
SteveRo ist pushing another Core2Duo, which nets him some decent points. But please try to get your PL down 2 or 3 steps!

By the way, did you win the auction?

@jcool: Are you running with HT enabled?

Sure you can.. I was using 1,42V using AfterburnerX back when I did my single 5870 runs. It allows up to 1,6V.

@Don_Dan: For wPrime, CInebench and Frybench yeah, for 3DM vantage no... as it doesn't support more than 16 CPU Threads. Or does it, since the patch?

The amount of LN2 I had was enough for literally 5 runs of Vantage. Card completed GPU tests at 1175/1175 on fourth run, but crashed on CPU test 2. On 5th run I had to back down to safe clocks to get a score, however bad it had to be. Lightning drinks about 1 L of LN2 per vantage run... I had to pour constantly, and still when I started GT1 temps were about -155, when GT2 ended they were like -100... I need a Tek-9 FAT

I'm prepared to start binning retail Sandy Bridges early until I get a good one - I won't be stopped by crappy press-ES' this time

Nah, Vantage can't use them, I just wanted to make sure you're running with HT disabled since you didn't have a screenshot!

JMax made a decent push this weekend, or we would have passed them already, HWLuxx on the other hand will be very tough...
