    3DMark Vantage passes, games crash

    All,

I have a EVGA GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 superclocked edition and I was slowly overclocking the speeds with RivaTuner. I haven't adjusted any voltage, just frequencies. My question to you all is, have many of you run into issues where the 3DMark Vantage test passes but when you try to run a game or even FAH, the VGA crashes? I don't have the speeds right in front of me, I will post them later when I get home. Does anyone have any suggestions on the cause or the solution on fixing this problem?

Can't wait for some replies. Thanks.

Lower your memory clock, no need to push it.

What type of crash do you get ?

I'll give that a try, like I said, when I get home I'll post my default and OC speeds. I get a driver failed error, during gameplay the game just dies, when folding the client locks up and I have to lower my speeds and restart the client.

I have similar problems sometimes. I put it down to the fact that the 3d benchmarks in vantage run for 5-6 mins, gaming sessions (or folding) go waaaaay longer.

I had the issues with the OC settings almost immediately. Less than 5 minutes.

    Here are my frequencies

    Default: 626/1350/1053

    Overclocked slightly: 680/1466/1101

    Overclocked more: 700/1509/1225

At all of these settings I can pass the 3D Vantage Mark tests but once I start folding or gaming (BOOM!). I'm pretty new at overclocking in general so if someone can give me some advice on what to adjust where, I'd really appreciate it. Like I said in my earlier post, I haven't touched the voltage.

Use ATITool artefact test to check your GPU OCs. It's old, but it sure works like nothing else to date.

bump up your volts and it should be stable at those clocks.

I would start by locking your shader clocks around 1400, then finding the max stable frequencies for your GPU and memory one at a time.
