memory for p55.. need advice please

looking at the gskill ripjaws, trident, and hyper x kingstons. prob the 2000's

want to keep it right around 100$ for the 4gb kit. can anyone suggest the best way to go are they all coming with same ic's..

whats the real difference between trident and ripjaw , just the sinks?

geil has the ultra set in the same price point worth considering? i think i like the tridents the most but want to buy right the first time around..
    thanks!!

ripjaws 2000 cl9 is $99.99 @ newegg right now ... there MAY BE some cheaper bbse out there but i doubt that the risk of getting wrong chips (hcf0 or d9kpt, for instance) is worth saving one or two dollars

    yes, only the heatsinks

why would you want that? costs a couple of dollars more and unknown kit (no oc data) - might as well be "wrong chips"

Get the Ripjaws DDR3-2000 or possibly the Tridents but the only difference should be the heatsink and the Tridents are rather tall so could be a problem for some motherboards and coolers.

There's no kits that can match them in price/performance/overclockability. I'm running my Ripjaws at DDR3-2292 9-10-9-22 (1T, B2B:0, TRFC:75) 1.65v vdimm and 1.3v VTT Memtest 8hrs+/100%+ stable and haven't tried lowering the voltage to see what's the minimum, maybe 1.63v would be ok even.

Dual channel and ~20MB/s bandwidth and ~36ns latency at 191x21 (4011 MHz) is quite nice IMO for $100. ^^
