Frankly, hwbot does an excellent job catering to the "little" guy by offering the huge amount hardware categories that pretty much anyone can get points in. Just look at the #4 US Team, ClassicPlatforms. They get all of their points from old hardware. Stuff you can buy off ebay or craigslist for pocket change. The only way you could do better for the little guys is to remove the 300 hardware point cap. It's just a fact of life, the guy with the connections and the cash is going to have a leg up; that's the way it is in every aspect of life.
