Urgent - is my Q9650 DOA?

Well I'm gonna post it back to the seller today if I'm sure it is actually dead. Got it just an hour ago and set it up quickly, my rig is all ready with a BIOS that will support the CPU, all settings restored to default etc.

Pressed the power button and all the LEDs lit up for a fraction of a second and then the PC just powered down immediately.

I thought maybe it was my PSU or motherboard so I threw my Q9550 back in and everything is absolutely fine.

I can't think of ANYTHING else that could be the problem, I'm so gutted

Try it again mate, any pins borked on the socket ? That would be a shame
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Tried it several times now, Q9650 is back in its box ready to be returned. Pins are all ok, checked all my cables etc.

My luck with quads has to be the worst ever. I suppose a DOA is better than a suckage overclocker

thanks for responding guys, it is rare indeed for a decent CPU to be doa

    box was definitely factory sealed
